The Slr Mclaren Super Sports Car Roadster
Mercedes-Benz is planning to release soon in the market a SLR McLaren super sports car roadster with a top. And in keeping with the Formula 1 vehicles of today the German division of DaimlerChrysler will employ carbon fiber--- which is a type of material used for vehicles of today that possess a very high degree of safety and extreme torsional stiffness---similar to the SLR McLaren coupe version. This will provide the upcoming super sports car roadster with a combination of racing type chassis coupled with outstanding ride characteristics.
The new Roadster will be powered by same AMG V8 compressor engine as the McLaren coupe producing 617 bhp, and uses the same AMG Speedshift R five-speed automatic transmission that will enable the Roadster to sprint from 0 to 62 mph in a matter of 3.2 seconds. The maximum speed of the Roadster will remain at 332 km/h or 207 mph same as that of the coupe.
The retractable top of the Roadster provides pure open-air driving pleasure and despite its luxurious feel it still makes a suitable mode of everyday transport. With the coming of the new Roadster it will surely open up a new dimension in terms of refinement for convertible super sports car.
And just like the McLaren coupe version the new Mercedes SLR McLaren Roadster will also be equipped with loads of stunning Mercedes-Benz accessories. It is also said that the new Roadster is more of a blend of the legendary SLR racing models dating back to the 50s with that of the innovative technology of modern Formula 1 vehicles from the Vodafone-McLaren-Mercedes team.

2003 E500 or 2002 CLK55 AMG?
Which would you pick?
1. 2003 E500
2. 2002 CLK55 AMG.
Also is there Bose in a 2002 CLK55 AMG? I like both, but im mainly looking for the drive, must be strong and quick and reliable and comfortable.
I know these cars very well, I would probably go with the E as I drive one now and love it. I find the W208 body cars feel a bit dated. Even the AMG CLK55 has the old style "steering box" type steering that gives that numb feeling of the road MB has been criticized for. The new E's have the very responsive rack and pinion type which makes it a blast to drive. Make the CLK a 2003 W209 chassis and I would be saying differently
I would drive both and see which you like before signing the check.
1. Stereo
Both are a Bose stereo but the E500 came standard with something called "Logic 7" which is an advanced surround sound stereo system. 2003 E's had a componant for this system called an "Audio Gateway" which had some problems in the beginning and has since been sorted out.
2. Strong/quick
The CLK55 is the quicker car but not by much, and it's more due to being lighter than more power. The "55" is deceiving on the CLK as it's not the supercharged 55 engine thats in the SL55's, S55's etc. It's a normally aspirated V8 with more aggressive camshaft profiles and fuel injection programming.
Top speed goes to the CLK, being an AMG its limited to 155. The E is electronically limited to 130+.
3.Reliability
The CLK55
A 2002 CLK is the last year of the W208 body cars. This bodystyle started in the USA in 1998. The car showcased no new technology at all so was pretty reliable from the start.
The 2003 E on the other hand is a first year car, all brand new with all sorts of new technology. Two problems the car had was with the stereo which I mentioned above, another operations control unit called a "Central Gateway" gave some trouble and also the "brake by wire" system was recalled for a new pump. I would ask seller for a "VMI" which will state if all work and recalls have been carried out. Most likely , being an '03 these issues have been sorted by now.
4.Comfort
Definitly the E. The W211 cars ride like a dream. Better yet the E500 has the upgraded hydropneumatic suspension that has a sport mode (that really works) for when you want sporty handling. CLK is comfortable as well but without the adjustability. Also ,obviously the CLK is a two door with smallish rear seats, in case that's an issue.
