Electricity is really a source of power made up of billions of individual electrons flowing inside a path,

a lot like water in a stream. The stream is the electrical existing. Existing flows through wires, sometimes called conductors. Wires are coated with a layer of insulation, which prevents shocks and ensures that the full amount of power reaches its destination.

The type of insulation may vary, depending on the type of appliance or whether it will be in a wet or dry location. When several wires are bound together with additional insulation, you've a cable. Cables in food service, heavy-duty but flexible, are wrapped in steel and often referred to as BX cables. When the wires are encased in nonflexible steel pipe, they're called conduits instead of cables. The complete path of a existing, from start to finish, is generally known as a circuit.

Any circuit has three basic components: the source, or starting place; the path along which it flows; and the electrical device (the appliance) it flows into. A common type of circuit is found in the fluorescent light bulb. A complete, working circuit is called a closed circuit. An open (or broken) circuit is one that has been interrupted so that no electricity flows. A short circuit occurs when existing flows in an unplanned path, due to a break in a wire or some other reason.

Short circuits are unsafe simply because they can cause fire and/or other types of equipment harm. Fortunately, there are a couple of safety devices to prevent short circuits. A fuse is a load-limiting device that may automatically interrupt an electrical circuit if an overload condition exists. Fuses protect both appliances and humans. More about them in a moment. A circuit breaker looks like an electrical switch. It automatically switches off when it begins to receive a higher load of electrical power than its capacity.

As the load decreases, the breaker might be manually switched on again without harm to electric lines or appliances. In addition to kilowatt-hours (kwH) and kilovoltamperes, there are four basic terms to learn in measuring electrical energy. You require to know them, because most kitchen equipment is "rated" (for output or power efficiency) based on these terms:

1. Ampere. Commonly generally known as an amp, this is a term for how a lot electric current flows through a circuit. A 100-watt lightbulb, for instance, requires 0.832 amps of electricity to light up. The larger the diameter of an electric wire, the more amperes it can safely carry, so it's vitally important that a licensed electrician determine the correct wire sizes for your needs.

The National Electrical Code sets the trade standards for wires. The minimum size for copper wire, for instance, is #14; for aluminum wire, #12. Circuit breakers are also rated in amperes, most frequently 15 amps (a single circuit breaker) or 30 amps (a double). The typical home electrical outlet offers 15 amps to plug in appliances, lamps, and so on. As few as 0.02 amps can render an electrical shock. In electrical formulas, the letter I indicates amperes.

2. Volt. The volt is the driving force that pushes an ampere through an electrical wire. One volt may be the force needed to push 1 amp of electricity for 1 second. For appliances, common voltages are 110-120 and 208-240. This means the amount of voltage necessary to operate the appliance efficiently; most appliances have a minimum requirement of 120 volts. In electric formulas, the letter E indicates volts.

3. Watt. The watt represents actual consumption of electric power, the amount of power in a circuit. One watt equals the flow of one amp of electricity at a pressure of one volt. Numerous electric appliances are rated in terms of both watts and volts. In electric formulas, the letter W indicates watts.

4. Ohm. This is really a less familiar term; an ohm is really a unit of electrical resistance. It refers to whether a substance is a good conductor of electrical power or an insulator that restricts electric flow. Examples of conductors are copper, silver, and drinking water. Examples of insulators are dry air, wood, rubber, and distilled water. In electrical formulas, the letter R (for "resistance") stands for ohms.

Why do you have to know these terms? You may need to figure amps, volts, or watts to help you decide what equipment to purchase, to check the efficiency of existing appliances, or to see if you're about to overload a circuit by plugging in something new. Now that you know the terminology, you will find some easy formulas for converting the data you've into the power measurement you may need for a given situation. You will find two methods to find volts:

1. Divide watts by amps: E = W: I

2. Or multiply amps by ohms:

E = I x R

There are two methods to find amps.

1. Divide volts by ohms: I = E: R

2. Or divide watts by volts: I = W: E

To find watts, multiply volts by amps:

W = E x I

Kitchen Electrical Supplies

Kitchen appliances use a varied amount of electricity which is dependent on their efficiency. An appliance’s location can affect electricity usage. For example, water heaters that are not properly insulated are more likely to be less efficient and use more electricity than that of a well-located and insulated water heater. Electricity usage amount also relies on the age of the appliance such that refrigerators that have been purchased many years ago use more electricity than new ones. Average usage of freezers and refrigerators purchased before 1985 is 100 kilowatt hours per month. One that is purchased after year 2000 uses 37.5 kilowatt hours per month.

Most appliances today are labeled on how much electricity they use. However, usage of electricity also depends on the frequency of the appliance’s use.

There are highly recommended practices for kitchen renovation and application of kitchen electrical supplies. There must be at least 2 20-ampere, 120-volt circuits supplying power to ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) receptacles for countertop and dining areas. Basic lighting circuits should be one 15-amp, 120-volt circuit feeding ceiling fixture, or recessed lights. As for distance between GFCIs over countertops, it must not be over 4 feet between countertop receptacles. Countertop sections exceeding a width of 12 inches are considered a "wall" and must have receptacles. Dishwasher circuits should be one 15-amp, 120-volt dedicated circuit wired with 14/2 cable. Garbage disposal circuit should be one 15-amp, 120-volt dedicated circuit wired with 14/2 cable. Microwave Circuit should be one 20-amp, 120-volt dedicated circuit wired with 12/2 cable. Electric Range Circuit one 50-amp, 120/240-volt dedicated circuit wired with 6/3 cable.

To replace an electrical unit in an existing kitchen, power wiring must be incorporated into the existing walls. The actual flow and volume of electricity that flows through kitchen electrical wiring are both important. The name given to electricity’s flow is “current”. It is measured in units called amperes (amps). Good electrical flow may be determined by a provider of kitchen electrical supplies. This will help in the efficient use of power. Before any decisions are made on kitchen wiring, one must find out the nominal and assured voltage levels for appliance-level circuits. It is also beneficial to find out if the kitchen electrical provider can supply dedicated circuits of higher levels without resulting to problems in the supply of electricity to the other sections of the house.

Kitchen electrical supplies refer to all products and accessories that require electricity to operate and are used in residential and industrial kitchens. The products under kitchen electrical supplies range from vast choices of lighting supplies, heating supplies, alarms, kitchen hardware, ventilation supplies, water heaters, wiring accessories, electrical cable supplies, cable accessories, distribution and switchgear, control gear, plugs and sockets, electrical fixing, tools, conduit accessories, switches, and fuses.

Are the Ampeg BA115 bass amp tube amps?

I am looking to buy an ampeg bass amp and I am most interested in the BA115 series. I was just wondering are those amps tube amps?

No.

But they are very good solid state combo amps.

I had one and used it for about 8 years until I sold it to a friend.

They sound best when you really know how to tweak the low-mid range.

I used to run my bass through a BA115 with a BA112 - splitting the signal with an A/B box and I actually liked the sound of the 112 better, but together I was able to get the best of both worlds.

Hearing the story of a bridge whose length is counted in 'smoots' reminds the Monitor's language columnist just how many scientists have lent their names to units of measurement.
