Here are some more information for Amps Lot:

For the purpose of this article, we are going to be looking at how you set up your own car sound systems. It isn't the easiest of tasks to set up your own car sound system because all the components that are required will be slightly different depending on what car you have. It can also be quite fiddly because you are installing something into a small space of your car. You will probably have some existing sound parts in your car - namely the speakers. However, if you want to improve your sound system then you might want to add other devices and upgrade the speakers. Whether you see the need of a whole new system or just a few changes, the information you can find here will be of great use!
The Stereo Speakers
Without stereo speakers, there wouldn't be a lot of point in pursuing other sound components. The speakers are the groundings of your car sound system and the first things to get right. There are a few things that you will have to consider when purchasing and installing stereo speakers - the type of speakers, size, shape, where it will be installed on your car and how much power it will need to operate properly. The very first thing you must do though, is check which speakers will have the ability to fit in your model of car - not all will. If you want the best quality of sound, surround sound will mean purchasing speakers from the front to the back and in-between!
If you already have your head unit or an amplifier, you will need to double check that the power capacity of your chosen speakers will match the power output of these devices.
Stereo Head Units and Receivers
Virtually all cars will have a built in head unit when you purchase them. I you want the best of sound systems you might want to trade in the standard head unit with a more desirable one. You will need to gain some information before making the change though, such as the size of the chassis. When looking for a new head unit, the size will be one of the first things you clock on to - they basically come in three sizes - small, medium and large. The small sized head unit is labeled with 'DIN' and the medium is '1.5 DIN', leaving the biggest as 'double DIN'. Other options include what can be played with your new head unit - tapes, CD's, DVDs with a video screen to watch - there is plenty of choice.
Stereo Amplifiers
Typically, a head unit will have a built in amplifier of around 50watts per channel. Sometimes that just won't be enough for perfect sound output. Many car owners who have an interest in the sound components of a car, will purchase external amps that can be altered to change frequencies of bass, mid-range and high. If you are planning to use different amplifiers, you will need to know how to use crossovers between them and the speakers used to make sure everything is connected properly.
Stereo Sub-woofers
A sub-woofer will need a lot more power than your average speaker and an enclosure will be needed too. Enclosures can be bought for specific models of cars, or you can try your hand at making your own if you think you have enough expertise to get the job done! Most sub-woofers will go in the trunk of the car and bought in sizes ranging from 8inches to 12 inches - although you can go even bigger if you wish!

Get A Guitar Practice Amp - Small In Size But Not In Sound
After you buy a guitar, particularly an electric guitar, the very next thing that you probably need to do is buy a guitar amp. The problem with lots guitar amps though is that they are huge, pricey and tricky to tote around. But there's an alternative - a guitar practice amp.
These amps are sometimes referred to as called mini amps because of their small size, but do not let their diminutive proportions put you off. You see even a basic guitar practice amp comes with a great range of features such as distortion effects, overdrive and, naturally volume controls that go all of the way up to 11! The best thing about these tiny amps though is that they are battery powered, often by simply a single 9V battery, which means that they're an absolute breeze to carry around if you're gigging at the local hall or even a mates bedroom.
they're tough enough to permit you to play to tiny audiences and are sometimes favoured by street buskers for their convenience and great sound. You may also find a guitar practice amp for nearly every musical style with Marshall, Yamaha, Fender and Danelectro among some of the famous makers who produce them.
With their comparatively inexpensive costs, completely cool looks and warm rich sounds, all packed into a box small enough to fit in a little backpack, a guitar practice amp is a great way to rock without needing a team of roadies backing you up.

Need a lot of help with amps and subs?
I dont know much about subs or amps but i know that i want them haha. im getting 4 12" kicker comps. i was wondering what amp do i need? like a 4 channel or like idk. whats the difference between mono, stereo, and multi-channel amps anyways? like do i need 4 seperate amps to power them all? urgg haha i need help!!
a mono amp is an amp with one channel.
a 2 channel amp is an amp with 2 channels.
a 4 channel amp is an amp with 4 channels. etc.
think of each channel of an amp as its own amp. so a 2 channel amp is like having 2 amplifiers in one. and a 4 channel amp is like having 4 amplifiers in one.
now there are a few different categories for amplifiers. Class D amps. and Class A/B amps are the most common. D class amps are more efficient then other types of amps, but only amplify bass signals. so you only want to use a class D amp with subwoofers.
pretty much all mono amps are class D amps.
2 channel amps vary. some are class D, or class B/D, and some are class A/B.
4 channel amps are almost always class A/B amps which are for full range speakers. they usuallu don't put out as much power as a class D mono amp...atleast not in the same price range.
So you want to run 4 subwoofers. well you can run 4 subwoofers with one amp. theres a few things you need to pay attention to.
How much power RMS can each subwoofer handle
How many voice coils does each subwoofer have, and what is the impedance (ohm rating)
and How much RMS power does the amp you want put out at each ohm level.
when you wire multiple speakers together, the resitance that the amp "sees" is different than if you were to only hook up one speaker.
whenever you wire in parallel you divide the impedance of the speakers in half. so when you wire both positives and both negatives of two 4 ohm subwoofers you get a final resistance of 2 ohms.
when you wire in series, you multiply the resistance by 2. so if you wire the negative of woofer 1 to the positive of the woofer 2. then wire the positive of woofer 2 to the amp and the negative of woofer 1 to the amp that is wiring in series and results in s final load of 8 ohms.
this is important, because unless you get a 4 channel amp (which isn't recommended) you will have to wire atleast 2 woofers to a single channel of whatever amp you use. and if you use a mono amp you'll have to wire 4 subwoofers to a single channel.
thats why you need to know how much power an amp puts out at each level of resistance so that you can match the RMS ratings accordingly.
so lets say your kicker comps are 200 Watts RMS (I don't know what they really are just an example) and you have 4 of them, then you need a total of 800 watts RMS to power them all efficiently. now lets also assume that each woofer is a single voice coil 4 ohm subwoofer.
well if you parallel wire all four of them together you will have a 1 ohm load. you could also do a combination of series and parallel wiring to get a 4 ohm load.
so if you get a mono amp it will either need to produce 800 watts RMS at 4 ohms, or at 1 ohm (which means it would also need to be one ohm stable)
if you get a 2 channel amp then you can paralell wire 2 subwoofers to each channel. this would result in a 2 ohm load for each channel. so you would want a 3 channel amp that puts out 400 watts at 2 ohms per channel (400 Watts RMS x2 @ 2 ohms, is what the specs would look like.) alternatively you could get a 2 channel amp that puts out 800 watts bridged at 4 ohms and then bridge the channels of the amp together.
Why Britney’s ‘Telephone’ beats Gaga by a mile
Even though it's a more bare-bones production, Britney Spears' demo amps up all the seething rage in the song, stripping it down to the killer combo of a plucked harp and a jaded party girl strung out on Auto-Tune and paranoia.
