Wow, finally the local cable guy has come to install a cable television in your house you get worked up over it. The thought of throwing away your aged old television with an alien like antenna has brought you to tears besides that your kids no longer need to constantly bother you to watch Barney since they're going to have their own television. You no longer need to complain about the bad reception. The local cable guy then informs you that having two televisions requires you to have a splitter. Which leaves you asking what a cable TV splitter is and how it functions?
Splitters have different capacities some have two, three or four-way connections depending on the number of television you need to connect to the cable signal, you may need to have a two-way if you have two televisions to connect to a cable signal, if you have four televisions then you need to have a four-way cable splitter. Most cable companies may provide and install a cable splitter for you but you really don't need them to do so, since cable splitter is inexpensive and otherwise hassle free to install.
The cable TV splitter is designed and developed to assign one signal to several outlets. The splitter has several models from the most common two-way to a monster 16-way splitter. Modern splitters are designed to maintain a signal's strength to avoid modulation loss. The reason for this is to maintain the picture quality of a television be it High definition or not.
The cable TV splitter allows one input for any signal and then forwards the signal to go out of the ports specifically the output ports. The number of ports a splitter has will minimize the signal that is being transmitted into the splitter. Most manufacturers will engrave an amount which will indicate where the signal is expected to come out of the designated port on the splitter. If your High Definition (HD) picture is hazy or unclear, you can start by diagnosing the source of the signal. Make sure that each connection is clean and is fitted correctly. Check if the coaxial cable to your television is on the plugged to the strongest signal in the output port of the splitter. Also the use and exercise of having too many splitters may diminish the signals quality.
Cable TV splitter is not the same as using satellite TV splitter. If you use a cable splitter in a satellite configuration this will drastically cut the signal to your receiver. You must have a splitter that is designed for you needs and always practice the use of one splitter.

The main function of a 2 port Video Switch is to display the output of two computers on a single monitor. It enables users to switch between the signals from the different sources. The selection can be made via push buttons on the front of the unit, IR remote control or RS232. These devices are also equipped with LEDs which indicate the connection status. The Video Switcher eliminates the need to disconnect then reconnect multiple video sources and has the ability to auto skip over power off / suspended PC, and unplugged VGA cable.
Available in a stackable design, it allows for cascading making it possible for a larger number of computers to be connected. These switches can either be DVI, VGA or HDMI switches. The difference lies in the type of video source being used. Some of these switches are audio enabled and almost all of them support PCs as well as MACs. They are compatible with various operating systems including Windows 2000, Windows XP, Linux, Mac and SUN. HDMI/optical Audio HELP ME PLEASE!!?
Hi guys, I am getting a surround sound system which doesnt have a coaxial digital output (DAMN PANASONC!!!!) and i will only have an HDMI and 1 optical out in the back to get all my sound out digitally. Problem is i want to hook up a ps3 x box 360 and sky digital box .......How can i get 3 different units to give out 5.1 surround sound with only 1 damn optical input!!!! (Please try and say something else apart from buy a splitter or switcher)....On this page Here is the spec for the surround sound im getting just scroll down a bit 2 see it...

All you will need is this optical splitter unit and you can connect up to 3 things then and get amazing sound.Ive got it on my DVD sound system
