The Dell Studio 17 Touch is a 17-inch laptop that has been designed more for its touchscreen display than as a desktop replacement unit or multimedia laptop. This is evident from the laptop's large 17.3 inch display that offers multi-touch capabilities. This means you can click, edit, zoom and select without having to use the track-pad or keyboard at all. Everything is accessible from the screen, either through a pinch, a double finger rotation or similar gesture.
While the Dell Studio 17 Touch does weigh about as much as other touchscreen all-in-one desktops at around 7 pounds, it incorporates the 17.3 inch screen with a laptop's chassis. This means the screen can be closed, protecting the sensitive screen from the elements and making the location you've placed it neater. The laptop also incorporates a 6-cell li-ion battery, so you can bring it about without a power cable.
In terms of looks, the laptop offers plenty of colors to choose from. You can choose the five pre-set colors of Ruby Red, Midnight Blue, Black Chainlink, Plum Purple, Spring Green and Promise Pink or you can ask Dell for more than 200 design options according to your own color preferences. While the Dell Studio 17 Touch does have a number of glossy surfaces the lid masks fingerprints and smudges quite nicely. A glossy palm rest and matte keyboard rounds up the design for a trendy look-and-feel.
The laptop runs on an Intel dual core T4300 processor with 3GB of DDR3 memory. While the 17.3 inch screen does offer a 1600 x 900 pixel resolution it is limited by the Intel GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics so 720p HD movies might be a bit of a stretch for the system. However, the Dell Studio 17 Touch does offer a DVD/CD dual layer combo drive so you can watch DVDs and other disc media while connecting via the 802.11g wi-fi connectivity. Making the most of everything is the Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit operating system.
All in all, the Dell Studio 17 Touch is a great touchscreen laptop for the kitchen and home as well as the presentation room as it incorporates the best of multi-touch touchscreen systems with a portable laptop chassis. While it isn't powerful enough to do high-end gaming or watch HD movies its flexibility allows it to offer plenty of functions in one go. Since it is a Dell system expect the laptop to come with a very affordable price tag along with excellent after-sales service.

If you had a laptop and a seven in touchscreen LCD, what would you do with it?
I had a "carputer" for a while, then i realized it sorta sucked having it because I barely ever used it. So I took the laptop and the touchscreen out of my car. I was thinking of using it to control a projector and use it as a home theater system.. but then again, I also feel like it's not worth the extra money to buy a projector. So, what would YOU do with it.
