Buick enjoys a rich history of more than a century--in 1903, The Buick Motor Car Company was formed, and in 1904 appeared the first model of Buick. Right from the start of the production, Buick gained popularity with its design, features, and technology that the company always looked to improve. Buick is now GM's only US-based semi-luxury brand, and is the fourth oldest marque in the world.
Buick during the 50s and 60s
1950s mark the era of super cars in the production of Buick. Buick gained a unique style and size with plenty of room, even in the 2-door models. The characteristic form of the Buick tail lamps during 1950s was a tier of small circular bullet-shapes. Buick La saber (Buick Lesabre) is one of the best-selling full-size cars, and it was launched in 1959. Before the discontinuation of this model in 2005, Buick La Saber enjoyed history of refined elegance that made it America's best selling full-size sedan for more than 12 consecutive years!
In the early 1960s, the design of Buick became more streamlined. The famous sports-looking Buick Riviera was launched in 1963. The engine used for Buick, the V8 engine, became very popular among hot-rodders in the 1950s and 1960s, because the vertical attachment of the valve-covers enabled the engine to fit into smaller spaces while maintaining easy access for maintenance. Buick's Fabulous Five
The Buick Motor Division of General Motors Corporation is in transition, like the rest of the venerable auto company. Older models have been canceled, adding new models and the current line up is radically different from just three years earlier. Now up to five models, the remaining vehicles in the Buick line-up are all winners. Let's take a look at each model and what they offer to consumers.
Lucerne – Buick Roadmaster and LeSabre are both gone, butfull-size Lucerne have taken their place. With V8 power and luxurious appointments such as heated and cooled seats, heated windshield fluid liquid, leather trim, Lucerne is the great based on the Cadillac DTS, but the car sold for more than U.S. $ 10,000 less than the market until Caddy cousin.
Lacrosse – This five seats sedan is sleek, aerodynamic and quiet. With prices starting in the Low 20 thousand-dollar range, the car competes against theToyota Camry and Honda Accord.
Rainier – The larger of two Buick SUVs, the Rainier comes standard with a 275hp I6, Stabitrak suspension / steering system, eight way driver powered seats, leather seats and much more.
Rendezvous – As the first SUV, Buick, the Rendezvous has succeeded where its Pontiac cousin, the Aztek has failed. Available in two or four wheel drive, the Rendezvous offers space for five [with the space available for seven], four-wheel disc brakes, and a variety ofsought outdoorsmen desired accessories.
Terraza – Is it a minivan or a SUV? The Terraza is part of a family of GM crossover vehicles introduced in the 2005 model year. These seven cars come equipped with a 3.5L engine and R6 is available in either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. As GM still holds its aging and unpopular line of minivans will be exempt, the Terraza and its cousins likely to step and fill the hole.
General Motors waspretty quiet about the future of Buick. Some were concerned by the constant degradation of the models, while others see Buick make a clean break from the past, has included several uninspiring models such as the Century and the Roadmaster.

are buicks good cars? dealer told me engine will last up to 300k miles, is this true?
good cars maintainance and performance wise? the cars i am looking at are Park Avenue, Century, LeSabre, and Regal are they good what about their engines, body, frames and so on.
I personally wouldn't expect 300k out of any car. A Buick or other GM will likely be OK for 150 to 200k if you maintain it properly and do not abuse it. I have 177k on a Mercury Sable and feel I have done well. I have put 350k plus on a couple of diesels (Merceded 300SD and Volkswagen Sporttruck) but they were exceptionally well cared for. If you have to get 200k out of your car, look at a Honda Accord or Toyota Camry.

What things have gone wrong with the car? Since I have had this car, the rear passenger window regulator failed and had to be replaced, the front drivers side window regulator broke and had to be replaced, and the turn signal bright beam-low beam switch on the turn signal broke.
