Here are some more information for Class Becker:

My fascination and affinity for this curricula is a result of experiences encountered when implementing TPRS in my school system. As the Department Chair of Languages Other Than English, I decided to try this system as a way for students to more readily use the language they were learning. The extensive oral practice through stories, concentrating on the most used words in the language, would allow students to acquire language more naturally. So I trained the other teachers in the district, and one of my co-teachers, who was anxious to implement TPRS, worked with the counselors to test Spanish-speaking students' abilities and place them out of the first two courses, wherever possible. Our new principal supported us by purchasing the necessary curricula for all three levels during the summer.
Here are some conclusions drawn from the implementation of this curricula:
1. Motivated students will learn, no matter what or how you teach, to level of their motivation. The larger percentage of our students, however, are not as motivated as we would like.
2. The more repetition and practice students have, the more readily language is acquired. One 50-minute period a day may inspire a motivated student, but for most students, foreign language is the last course they study for (if at all) because it is not a "core" course.
3. In many schools, students weak in math, English language arts, or science skills are pulled out of their elective courses (including foreign language) for remedial instruction to insure they pass state-mandated tests in those subjects. Add sporting events, assemblies, fire drills, yearbook pictures, announcements, reward pizza parties for raising money, illness, or whatever other cause interrupts class, and it is difficult to maintain a continuity of instruction.
4. Teachers are required to post a specific number of daily grades plus a given number of test grades during each grading period. The d daily grades cannot ALL be participation grades. Judging student progress is important for both teacher and student to feel successful.
5. Preparation for TPRS stories requires some time and thought. Teachers teaching three levels have limited time to devote to each course.
For these reasons, homework exercises have been developed to supplement each lesson of the LOOK, I CAN TALK Mini-Stories. They provide additional practice within a short block of time where students revisit what was taught in class during the oral lessons and readings of the curriculum. An added benefit is that foreign language is not mentally dismissed by students as just something they struggle through each day, not as important as other courses because of lack of assignments.

Steps To Becoming A Cpa
Deciding to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is a huge step for college graduates looking to step into the accounting world. Being able to put on your resume that you are a Certified Public Accountant, will make your resume stand out above all of the others. Being a recent graduate, having CPA will give you credibility and will act as a "stamp of expertise" to the public eyes. Not only will being a CPA earn you more money, it will improve your credibility, as well as reflect your commitment to the accounting field.
Having CPA certification provides substantial financial awards for accountants. Accountants with this certification will be able to establish a standard of living to support themselves and their family. According to Robert Half International, the CPA can, on average, increase a candidates base salary by 10 percent. A lot of small, medium, and large public accounting firms will not promote their auditors past a certain level unless they have passed the CPA exam.
To obtain this certification there are six main steps that you have to follow. The first thing you will have to do is apply to take the exam. This step involves deciding what state you want to be certified in and checking to make sure you fit all of their qualifications, requesting an application, completing it, and then submitting it. This process can take from 6 weeks up to 8 weeks. The second step after your application has been accepted is to pay the examination fees. Fees vary for each state as well as qualifications . In Pennsylvania, there is a $95 application fee. The Auditing (AUD) section fee is $230.55, Business Environment (BEC) is $180.95, Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR) is $218.15, and Regulation is $193.35. If you are taking an exam over you are obligated to the pay the application fee of $95 again whether you are taking one section over or all four. Third, after you have paid the CPA fees you will receive your notice to schedule in the mail.
The fourth step in obtaining your CPA is the most crucial. STUDY, STUDY and STUDY some more. The goal is to pass all four parts of the exam on the first try. Although this does not happen for most people, retaking the exam over and over again can become very costly. There are many different ways you can study for the CPA exam. The most talked about is the Becker CPA Review. Becker offers on line classes, live classes, cram sessions, and self study cd's to work at your own pace. There are many other institutes that offer CPA review classes as well as many study books.
After you feel you are fully prepared to take on the CPA exam, the fifth step is then to schedule each section. All exams need to be scheduled at least 6 days in advance. It is advised that candidates schedule their exam at least 45 days in advance. The sixth step is to take the exams. Lastly you will sit in anticipation awaiting the arrival of your scores.
Overall, if you are extremely interested and committed to the accounting field, you should try and become a Certified Public Accountant. Not only will this title increase your salary, but it will also help you shine above other candidates when applying for jobs as well as provide a secure standard of living.

How long does it take to become a CPA?
After an MBA and 4 years as a staff accountant with general accounting duties is CPA the right way to go? And also, what is the typical time frame to become a CPA working full time. I am thinking of enrolling in the live in class Becker CPA review.
Any good suggestion is appreciated
That depends on which route you want to take in the accounting field. Becoming a CPA does open some doors, specifically in the public accounting arena. But if you do not plan to work in public accounting, either for an established firm or in your own practice, your CPA license may not be worth the time and effort it takes to study and sit for the exam.
I have an BBA in Accounting and an MBA in Business Administration. I actually owned and operated my own bookkeeping and tax service for 12 years without a CPA license. The only restriction I had was I could not perform audits, which I had no desire to do anyway. Many of my friends are CPA's and often expressed to me that I had a very successful business without the headaches of license requirements and peer reviews, so why mess with that. I did sit for the exam and actually passed three parts the first try after taking the Becker CPA Review you referred to.
I sold my practice and went to work for a publicly held international corporation as an accounting manager, which did not require me to be a CPA and would not have paid me anymore had I been one...
The moral of this story - determine first what you wish to do in accounting and then figure out if being a CPA will help advance your career. Then the decision is much simpler.
Good Luck!
