Here are some more information for Competition Car:
As a former franchisor, in the car wash industry, I was often a lightning rod against more established car wash companies because my company was franchising mobile car washes which compete directly with them. They hated me with passion, and every city where we went to service, some 450 cities in all, in 23 states. Indeed, as I ran up against them in nearly every market they did everything they could put me out of business.
They would run over to City Hall, and try to get code enforcement to come out and harass us, and that is only one of the dirty tricks they played. Of course, being a young man, and into winning and competition in the market place, I went after them as well. Anytime a car wash owner would start to attack my company or one of my franchisees, I would do exit surveys of their customers.
The customer would pull out of the car wash, and drive down the street, and I would follow them to their next destination, hanging back quite a ways so they couldn't tell, and I would ask them; "wow your car is clean did you just get it washed?" And then I would ask them about the car wash and the level of service, if they liked the car wash.
One of the most common complaints of course was all the water that dripped out of the cracks of their car as they drove away, causing water spots and streaks. But there was also another common complaint that was fairly typical. The customers were very angry that they tried to up-sell them when they came into the car wash for a simple basic car wash. And they'd try to sell them some sort of "deluxe wash" with hot wax or some nonsense for $29.00 or more. It really used to upset female customers the most as I remember. Male customers would just tell them to get lost, and "give me the basic wash!"
Now some car washes in the industry are starting to get kiosks, where you drive your car up, select what type of car wash you want, slide your credit card, and drive forward. The car wash saves the money and labor, and the customers are actually less fearful of being confronted with a high pressure sales tactic to up-sell them.
There is a wonderful video on CarWash {dot.} TV - which I highly recommend that you see - The title of the video is; "Man Vs. Machine: Rise of The Pay Stations!"
In watching this video, it reminded me of this problem in the industry, and some of the other problems in the car washing sector such as the fact that they use too much water, have a terrible track record in the industry with hiring illegal labor, and their reputation with the Internal Revenue Service keeping two sets of books and laundering their money.
Of course, I won't get into all the dirty tricks in this so-called clean industry, but I thought you should know that in my opinion, the industry is nothing short of questionable.

whats the best way to make my car look ready for competition?
ok im not really going to put my car into a competition, but i do want it to look the best it has ever looked. I have a date this saturday and i dont want my car to look like ass. I have a 96 mustang convertible, i want to know what can i put on the body to make it look brand new again, but that will also protect it from the sun. I also need something to clean the top and also protect it from the u.v. rays. the interior i got pretty much got down. i know not everyone likes mustangs, or fords for that matter, so please, i really dont want to hear it.. also i'd like to know what you thing of the car, maybe some ideas on making it look better would really be cool.. thanx in advance.

ok one of the best ways to clean a car without the buffing is to buy clay yes clay it does NOT scratch paint. spray almost any cleaner even windex and take clay and rub over it till dry... another good idea if u have any minor scratches is to buff them with wax and with of course a buffer....these werent GREAT ideas but they were bette rthan nothing! =]
