Silver bullion bars, also referred to as silver ingot bars, generally consist of 99.99% silver and range in size from one ounce to 5000 ounces. The 10-oz and 100-oz sizes are the most popular with investors. The 5-oz, 25-oz, and 50-oz size bars, which were produced in the early 1970's, are difficult to find. However, the diligent collector can sometimes find these silver bars on popular online auction sites such as eBay.
Unlike silver coins, silver bullion bars are first and foremost an industrial product. They are intended to be used as a storage means and are consider a trading medium. They are very liquid, but should be purchased strictly as an investment and not used for bartering purposes.
Some of the advantages of owning silver bullion bars are:
- Uniform size, making them very convenient to store and easy to handle.
- Compact size, making them ideal for investors who want to secure a large amount of wealth in a relatively small storage area.
- Recognizable hallmarks, making them readily accepted for resale and easily convertible to cash.
The 100-oz silver bullion bars are often called investment bars, because collectors who buy them usually do so for investment purposes, not as a hedge against inflation. These type of collectors will often sell when silver prices go up. The 100-oz silver bullion bars are desirable because they offer a low markup over the spot price of silver, although they aren't as flexible as the 10-oz variety.
The most popular silver bullion bars are created by Engelhard and Johnson-Matthey. Although they are two of the world's largest refiners, they have not mass-produced silver bars since the mid-1980s. This means Johnson-Matthey and Engelhard silver bars are only available when other investors decide to sell. More readily available are the 100 ounce Wall Street Mint and Sunshine Mining bars. The English Sheffield and Handy & Harman bars can be obtained, but are more difficult to find. The most popular size is the 100 troy ounce silver bar produced by Englehard, an American company.
Engelhard is renowned for producing quality silver bullion bars that are accurately stamped with the exact pureness of the silver that is contained in the bar. Investors know that the Engelhard symbol assures them of the ability to buy and sell silver bars with total complete confidence, anywhere in the world. Because of their low premium over spot, compared with silver bullion coins, the 100-oz Engelhard silver bars are an excellent way to invest in silver bullion.
Johnson-Matthey was founded in 1817 and has an unrivalled reputation in the precious metals field, because of its technical excellence and dedication to quality. Johnson-Matthey 100 ounce silver bars are always in high demand from silver collectors and investors because of their confidence in the company. An investor can buy a Johnson-Matthey silver bar with total confidence in its purity, liquidity, quality. Every Johnson-Matthey silver bar is stamped with the exact weight and an individual serial number, exclusive to each and every buyer.

Got Testosterone?
Ask the average guy what he knows about hormones and he'll probably say something like “Hormones, that's the reason women get all emotional before their period” or “Hormones are why women have hot flashes and get crabby when they go through menopause.” Many men don't realize the crucial role hormones play in their own bodies or recognize that hormone imbalance such as declining testosterone levels cause significant and progressive symptoms.
The term “andropause” is referred to as “male menopause” in the mainstream media, and “androgen decline in the aging male (ADAM)” in the medical community. Symptoms of andropause usually come on gradually due to the progressive decline in testosterone, often coupled with an increase in estrogen production. Low testosterone levels are commonly seen in men over 40, with levels decreasing as early as the 30s. Recent studies suggest the prevalence of low testosterone in men over 45 years may be as high as 38.7%1, with >50% of men having low testosterone by age 70.
What does testosterone do?
Testosterone is an “anabolic” hormone, meaning it builds structural tissue such as muscle, bone, and the heart. Testosterone maintains lean body mass (increased muscle to fat ratio), promotes wound healing, and improves energy level. Testosterone is perhaps best known for maintaining a robust libido (sex drive) and normal erectile function.
Heart health and normal blood sugar levesl are influenced by testosterone. Low testosterone is associated with high insulin levels, and testosterone supplementation has been shown to decrease insulin resistance and help reverse diabetes. In addition, low testosterone is a risk factor for congestive heart failure and high blood pressure. Testosterone also improves blood flow to the heart itself by dilating the coronary arteries.
Brain function such as mental sharpness, memory, concentration, and mood is dependent on optimal testosterone production. Low testosterone is a risk factor for the development of Alzheimer's disease, which currently afflicts someone in the U.S. every 71 seconds. Testosterone also influences brain chemicals that help prevent depression.
Symptoms of testosterone deficiency
The following symptoms are possible with low or suboptimal testosterone production:
- Accelerated aging
- Decreased muscle mass and strength
- Weight gain
- Low energy
- Poor exercise tolerance or stamina
- Joint stiffness or aching
- Irritability or depression
- Loss of competitive edge
- Decreased memory or poor concentration
- Low libido
- sexual dysfunction
The following conditions have been shown to be associated with low or suboptimal testosterone production:
- Diabetes
- Obesity
- Heart disease
- Depression
- Alzheimer's disease
- Fibromyalgia
- Anemia
- Osteoporosis
Natural ways to improve testosterone production
Testosterone production can be enhanced my maintaining a healthy diet high in good-quality protein and low in simple carbohydrates, and keeping alcohol intake to a minimum. In addition, exercising for 30-45 minutes at least 4 days per week can enhance testosterone production. Avoiding environmental toxins in plastics and pesticides may help, as can reducing stress levels. Supplements, such as zinc and selenium, and herbs, such as saw palmetto and nettles, can improve hormone balance in men. Lastly, since the aromatase enzyme responsible for converting testosterone into estrogen is found in fat tissue, maintaining a healthy weight helps optimize testosterone production.
Testing total and free testosterone, as well as estradiol and PSA levels, is crucial after age 40. If levels are low or suboptimal, supplementation with bioidentical testosterone (the same molecule produced by the body) is possible through topical creams or gels, patches, or pellet implants. Testosterone pellet implants are the easiest, most convenient, and most effective way to raise testosterone to healthy levels.
