The 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz, a convertible, mated beauty, style and power in a premium automobile. General Motors first introduced the Eldorado model as part of the Cadillac line in 1953. The name, Eldorado, was proposed for the new car model after an in-company competition was won by a secretary from the company's marketing department. The Eldorado was to be a feature for Cadillac as they were celebrating their golden anniversary in 1952. The name, Eldorado, stems from the Spanish words "el dorado" which mean "the golden one". The 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz was golden for General Motors as the 1957 model was one of the most memorable designs.
A Premium Car with Pizazz
The 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz boasted some refining features which included a special cutdown wraparound "Panoramic" window, custom interior and a notched beltline that gave the automobile a more sporty look. The '57 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz also featured a metal lid instead of the typical canvas boot for covering the lowered top. The car was definitely a luxury vehicle as it could comfortably seat six and being a convertible, the top could be lowered or raised automatically.
There were also several options to choose from when it came to equipping the 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz for comfort. Buyers could add air conditioning, an antenna that was electrically operated, a heating system, power seats, a trunk lid lock that was remote controlled, radio controls in the rear compartment, whitewall tires, a foot control switch for the radio and cushion toppers. Some other optional equipment included:
signal-seeking radio presets
sabre-spoke wheels
license plate frames
rubber mats
fog lamps
spotlights
seat belts
The '57 model of the Eldorado Biarritz did have some changes from its predecessors. The side rails were removed and the body rested on a tubular X-frame. This change gave the it a greater rigidity, it allowed the car to sit lower to the ground and it increased the car's length and wheelbase. Rubber bumper guard tips were added to the front of the car and circular parking lamps were nestled into the bumper design. The side trim was revised and dual taillights were added in the back.
A Premium Car with Power
Not only was this a quality, refined car, it was also pretty powerful. The 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz featured a V-8 engine that cranked out 325 horsepower with twin Carter four-barrel carburetors. It could reach 60 mph in about 11 seconds. It was notably built for luxury and comfort, but was also built for speed.

American Icon: the Ford Mustang
In 1964 the Ford Motor Company introduced the Mustang, selling more than one million cars in it’s just over a year. The Mustang was the beginning of a new class of sports car that would become known as “pony cars.” Ford product manager Donald N. Frey and Ford Division general manager Lee Iacocca conceived the prototype of the now classic car.
The Mustang was introduced to the public at the New York’s World Fair in 1964 and had the most successful launching in automobile history. In its first year and a half of production more than 1 million Mustangs were sold. Because the Mustang was introduced several months before the regular beginning of the production year, early Mustangs are often called 1964 and ½ models. The Mustang’s original components were based on familiar and simple components to cut down on development and retail price. The chassis, suspension and drivetrain were developed from the Ford Falcon and Fairlane. Also gleaned from the 1964 Falcon were a unitized platform frame and welded box-section side rails. Read more about Mustang components in car magazines like Car and Driver magazine, Motor Trend magazine and Lowrider magazine.
The interior of the 1965 Mustang featured adjustable driver and passenger bucket seats, AM radio and a floor mounted gear shifter in a variety of colors. Throughout 1965 Ford added to the Mustang’s interior options like sun visors, mechanical remote-operated mirror and a bench seat. Ford’s Interior Décor Group became known as “Pony Interior” because they embossed running ponies seats and armrests. Ford’s competitors GM and Chrysler were unprepared for the astonishing success of the Mustang. Chrysler introduced the Plymouth Barracuda just before the Mustang but it would be a few more years before the car became a revered Muscle car. GM had the rear-engine Corvair Monza but it did not sell well. It would take GM two years to produce the Mustang’s biggest competitors: the Chevrolet Camaro and the Pontiac Firebird. Lincoln-Mercury also hit the market with the successful “upmarket Mustang” Mercury Cougar. In later years the Mustang inspired coupes like the Toyota Celica and Ford Capri. Read more about the evolution of Ford Mustang and its competitors in popular magazines like Car and Driver magazine, Motor Trend magazine and Lowrider magazine.
The Mustang has seen many redesigns. Currently there are five generations of Mustangs. Ford also produced many performance models of the Mustang including the Boss 302 Mustang, Mach 1 and SVO. Independent car designers like Carroll Shelby, Roush Performance and Saleen have also produced special Mustang models including what is known as the Shelby Mustang. Mustangs have appeared in many movies—more than any other vehicle--helping along the iconic status. Classic movies like the James Bond movie Goldfinger, Bullit with Steve McQueen and The French Connection with Gene Hackman. More modern movies like Gone in 60 Seconds, Vanilla Sky and Runaway Bride. In the 1980s a futuristic fictional 2015 model was featured in Back to the Future II.

Computer Virus? Picking up weird southern trucker voice through computer speakers.?
I was sitting at my computer yesterday evening and through my speakers comes a southern trucker voice talking about CB radios and something about a 1964 Ford Fairlane in Texas. The clip did not seem to be in real time, but rather recorded. Could this be a computer Virus, or am I somehow picking up transmissions and playing them through the speakers? I haven't looked at any strage sites and ad-aware couldn't detect anything. Please help.
I'll try out some more anti-spyware programs. I'm relatively close to the road and interstate - less than a quarter mile to the interstate and probably 100 ft to a busy road; last night is the only time I have heard the transmission.
How far away are you from roads and such? I have seen and witnessed myself speakers receiving CB transmissions over the air somehow. Has to do with the interference I guess, it is possible though.
I found a site on this. The link is below.
For Baylie
Bob Brown of Indianola, Nebraska, backs the mariner blue Chevy 3100 pickup that his wife Deanna's grandfather, Lester Rhodes of Culbertson, Nebraska, purchased new in 1953 into a downtown McCook parking stall for the early-spring car show benefit for Baylie Simmonds of McCook, injured in a car accident Feb. 1. Two-year-old Alex Cole of Grant "drove" the '57 Chevy Bel Air station wagon that ...
