The thought of purchasing a brand new watercraft and owning their very own boat is the ultimate dream of countless boating enthusiasts, however, the preliminary and long term investment can be very expensive. Well, the option is to build your own fiberglass boat, this way you will save a huge amount of money and at the same time, you’ll be able to own a custom made watercraft. Fiberglass boat making need not be that complicated, just follow the steps below in order to get you started on constructing your very own fiberglass boat today.

First of all, in making your fiberglass boat, you need to prepare these materials; 25inch thick marine plywood, band saw, jigsaw, hand tools, wood glue, sawhorses, sandpaper, and wood rasp. The dinghy is an excellent solid design that manages well on large and small bodies of water.
You can start by laying out the boat design on the plywood. You can search the web/internet for a set of downloadable illustrations that can be blown up and traced directly on plywood. Using the band saw and jigsaw cut your panels out of the plywood making sure that your lines are straight. Your panels must include a bow, stern, bottom, two sides, several cross braces and a seat.
Starting with the sides and bottom, butt the edges of the boards together and glue them together at the edges, after that is the bow and stern, then fit the cross braces in the middle. Place the seat in the middle of the boat and let it dry overnight. Begin coating one panel of boat with fiberglass resin then smooth the fiberglass cloth over that part, engulfing it completely, do this also to the entire outside of the boat, repeat this step on the inside of the boat as well. Additional resin is needed to the seams where the plywood is attached to one another.
Lastly in fiberglass boat making, seal the boat by painting with numerous coats of paint and then two coats of polyurethane.Let the boat dry for 48 hours to allow the stains and paints cure properly. You are now ready to test your boat.

how can i apply fiberglass resin to a table as a finishing coat over some paintings i did on the table?
i built a wodden table and painted a mural on it and i wanted it to be protected from spilling and i want to be able to play quarters on it and i was told either poly urithane or fiberglass resin i dont know which to use or how to use them?
I can tell you what I have done and looks fabulous, however I recommend you test it in another small piece you make to make sure it will work for you.
After done with the painting put a coat ot two of varnish (any polyethylene will do).
Then by Johnson's future floor wax. Put a coat and let dry and then reply up to 7 to 10 times. It will make a thick coat of plastic that will protect you piece the same way it protect the floors. Is economic and durable!
