For its 2010 models, the second year offering the CC, Volkswagen has two engines to go with the product line. The Sport and Luxury come with a 2.0 liter, inline four cylinder engine and the VR6 and VR6 Sport come with a 3.6 liter, six cylinder engine. The smaller engine outputs a maximum 200 horsepower at an engine speed of 5,100 rpm and it produces a high torque at the low speed of 1,700 rpm. The bore and stroke for this engine are 82.5 mm and 92.8 mm respectively. This is a front wheel drive vehicle that employs Volkswagen's Direct Shift Box for maximum performance on the road. With this engine, the sedan boasts a city fuel economy rating of 21 miles per gallon (mpg), and a rating of 31 mpg for highway driving. The composite EPA rating is an impressive 25 mpg. The sport sprints from 0 mph to 60 mph in 6.0 seconds while the luxury model does the same in 7.4 seconds.
The Volkswagen VR6, and the all wheel drive VR6 Sport have even more power to brag about. Coming from its 3.6 liter small angle (10.6°) V6 engine are 280 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 265 foot pounds of torque at 2,750 rpm. The fuel economy of this engine is still pretty good: 17 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 20 mpg composite. This engine propels the 4 wheel drive CC from zero mph to 60 mph in a mere 6.3 seconds. This engine has an 89 mm bore, a 96.4 mm stroke, and a compression ratio of 12:1.

Vw Profit, Sales Energizes Future Plans
The AIADA newsletter reported that Volkswagen's positive first-quarter results were exactly what Porsche Chief Executive Wendelin Wiedeking had in mind when he took a controlling stake in the German automaker last year. Meanwhile, VW of America, Inc. recently announced April 2007 sales of 19,086 units. This represents a decrease of 7 percent from last year’s sales of 20,528 vehicles.
Business Week, on the other hand, reported that Volkswagen’s operating profit for the months of January to March of 2007 rose 81%, making their profits amount to $1.48 billion. That generated a 4.1% margin.
Winterkorn, an executive of VW, has this biggest job of building a real export powerhouse. For all its huge $143 billion in revenues, Volkswagen's success remains largely centered on Europe.
Still on a positive side, in the spring season, Volkswagen’s new hard-top convertible Eos posted its best month ever with April sales of 1,142 units. The Eos is the world’s first four-seat, hard-top convertible with an integrated glass sunroof.
To take on Toyota, Volkswagen has to build serious market sales in the U.S., where last year it sold only 397,000 cars. To bolster Volkswagen’s weak U.S. market operations, Winterkorn is betting on new models. These include a van with lower costs, improved quality, and revamped sales and marketing strategies, to be launched in 2008.
VW Finance Chief Hans-Dieter Pötsch said their company certainly needs to enrich their product portfolio in the US. He also said they need models which are more specifically designed and manufactured to North America, with a more competitive cost base. He was also glad to say that it is exactly what they are doing.

volkswagen GLI or GTI?
i am going to be getting a new car i have 99 camry now and i want a sporter car with low milage under 20,000 i need it for a car as a everyday car and i need desant gas millage. i am thinkin a GTI or a GTL. i dont no to much about volkswagen. but i love the look of both any ideas on them or anther car that i am missing over in looking?
If you want the faster of the 2 you should get the GLI. My cousin had a GLI and it did a 120 easily on the highway.
If you want the one with better gas mileage than you should go for the GTI I heard it has better gas mileage.
But if you want supreme Gas mileage then you should go for the TDI. It uses Diesel but it gets as much gas mileage as a Prius!!! and Prius's suck anyways
