Here are some more information for Golf Radio:

You have little money but you want to raise money for your local charity. So how about a well publicized auction?
You will be benefiting from a whole pile of human emotions:
* The public's desire to give to good causes.
* Local business need for cost effective advertising.
* Local businesses wishing to be connected with good causes.
* The public's wish to purchase special items at good prices, whilst still being seen to be doing good.
* Local media's needs for good local interest copy.
It is going to be some hard work for you, but if you are organized, polite and persistent you will do well.
First of all - check with your local authorities as to the kind of permits etc that you need. Make sure you adhere to all rules - lotteries for example are heavily controlled - so get advice first.
Secondly as it is for charity you have to make sure that you keep excellent records and can account publicly for all auction gifts, all money taken and what the money is used for.
Now Publicity
Set the event for about 1 month ahead. Go to your local radio stations and tell them about it. Ask them to publicize it for you. Do the same with the local papers. You have a great local event so they will be interested.
Set up some flyers giving details of the auction. Also set up some posters that local businesses can put up. Leave a space on these so that they can promote what they are giving to the auction and ask donators to put them up in their shop and office.
Ask your paper to be at the event to take photos and provide a report on the results. If you can hold the event in order to purchase a particular item for your charity - that's great!
Getting Your Items
Go around local businesses and ask them to donate. Tell them:
* Their name will be mentioned during the auction item. - "Donated by....."
* Their name will be on the auction catalogue.
* Adverts in the auction will appear on radio and in news releases.
* They can put a poster up demonstrating what they have donated.
Try to encourage competitiveness by providing a special mention for key prizes.
Also contact all the members of your local charity and say same thing.
Try and get a few main/big items that will make your publicity stand out. For example a day's golf training with a local celebrity. Meal for 4 at a great restaurant etc.
The Auction
Be professional and see if a local celebrity or auction house or comic will control the auction for you. This does great for your publicity as well.
Have refreshments available and seating. This encourages people to stay.
Keep very good records and keep telling people the totals during the auction. Say things like - "another $50 takes us to a $1,000", "We are almost able to buy two xx's - just need to give a little more."
Ensure that the donators and bidders get good publicity and everyone feels that they have donated to a good cause.
Announce the final total and leave a bucket/tin available for other donations. Thank everyone and close the event.
Give the local papers and radio stations details of the event, the amount raised and what it is being used for.
Good luck!

V.h.f. – Which Frequency are You on When You are Playing Golf?
Visual
Typically, people who are in a visual mode stand or sit
with their heads up and/or their bodies erect with their
eyes up, and will be breathing from the top of their lungs.
They often sit forward in their chair or on the edge of
their chair.
They tend to be more organised, neat, well groomed and orderly. More deliberate, more appearance oriented and sometimes quieter and are usually good spellers. Visual people memorise by seeing pictures and are less likely to be distracted by noise. Often they have trouble remembering verbal instruction and would rather read than be read to.
A visual person will be interested in how someone looks at
them and will respond to being taken places and bought things. They tend to use words like ‘see you later’, ‘I want to look at it’, ‘Show me’, ‘Focus’, ‘Watch it, be clear, foggy,
picture that, notice and it appears that…’
Hearing (Auditory)
Someone who is auditory will move their eyes sideways and
also down to the right. They breathe from the middle of
their chest. They typically talk to themselves and are
easily distracted by noise. They often move their lips when
they are mentally saying words. They can repeat things back to you easily.
They may find maths and writing more difficult and spoken
language easier. They like music and learn by listening.
They memorise by steps, procedures and sequences. An auditory person is often interested in being told how they’re doing, and responds to a certain set of words and phrases like: ‘listen, talk to, said, speak, sounds like, hear, good to
talk to you’.
Feeling (Kinaesthetic)
They will typically breathe from the bottom of their lungs
so you’ll see their stomach go in and out as they breathe.
Their posture is often more slumped over and they often move and talk very slooooooowly. They will typically access their feelings and emotions to ‘get a feel’ for what they are doing. They respond to physical rewards and touching. They also stand close to people and touch them. They are often physically orientated people (athletes). They may move a lot and they memorise by ‘doing’, or walking through something. They use words like: ‘feelings, get in touch, hold, grasp and handle’.
***Questionnaire***
You may not know whether you are predominantly a visual, hearing or feeling person because of course the vocabulary we use comes to us naturally. However, the following questionnaire will help you to discover which preference you may have. It is unlikely that you will be 100% visual, hearing or feeling, but it is very useful to know which one you favour.

Work out how many a’s, b’s or c’s you are and then put them in order –
a) is for visual
b) is for audio
c) is for feeling/kinaesthetic
If you have 6 a’s, 1 b and 3 c’s then you are 60% visual and
will learn more effectively if your coach uses language which
helps you to visualise what you need to be learning.
Conclusion
The first rule of the Confidence Caddie programme is all about getting to know yourself and how you tick. It is up to you to understand what makes you tick in order for you to get the best out of life and to gain clarity on what works for you and what doesn’t.
It is your responsibility if you are going to achieve the
success you seek in any area of life including golf. So next
time you are having some instruction if you do not understand how a skill is being taught to you speak up and help the Coach understand how you need to be able to be instructed.
The Coach is there to help and will be only too glad to explain in a way that will help you to move on; if he or she isn’t then change coaches!
It is all about communicating – both externally and internally.
Any questions on this and any other tips or articles don’t forget to contact me via the ‘Ask A Question’ on my site.
Till next week …
