Sure they are, you just need to 'tie' the rooms together using accessories. It depends on your style, but using pillows and paintings or pictures in the living room with beige,black and dark gray with maybe some burgundies, pinks, and maybe even some reds, depending again, on your preference, then just incorporate the same colors into your kitchen.
