Good Intelligibility With Noise Canceling Features are a Must When it Comes to a Pilot Headset

Headset Question?
I recently purchased a headset for my private pilot training. It seems ok but I feel that it puts quie a bit of pressure on the side of my head. Is this normal? Could this possibly cause me to pass out in flight? Are there any shops or businesses that can adjust the fitting of the set?
with out knowing the brand, hard to really answer your question. I have a feeling you have opted for a "cheap " head set. Bite the bullet and get a quality one like the Bose Aviation Headset X. It offers excellent full-spectrum noise reduction, but with far less clamping force than most conventional headsets. It is quiet, light, and comfortable. Period.

Long term exposure to the "noise" inside the cockpit WILL degrade your hearing long term with out proper protection.
I wish I had a Noise canceling Headset years ago. After spending years in the cockpit in a single engine prop plane
and around the airport with running jet engines my hearing in my left ear is 0 and have significant hearing loss in the other.
Having a quality headset has NOTHING to do with how serious you are about flying, but protecting your hearing.
Something if you lose you dont get back.. think about it....
