how can i get my 10 inch 1100 watt peak sony Xplod sub to hit at 15 DB? i have a 1000 watt peak pyramid amp.?
i have a 1100 watt 10 inch sony xplod sub and a 1000 watt pyramid amp (i dont have the amp on me at the moment so i cant get you the model number) but i want to know how i can get more kick at lower frequencies. like around 15 DB or lower. im using an unported box right now. and if someone can plz give me the right box size that would help a lot to. and i made sure that it was sealed and air tight.
I don't think you really understand what you're asking.
15hz is VERY low on the audible frequency scale, as a matter of fact, by most standards it's not audible. It is not that common for music to get below 30hz.
As far as playing low freqency material - You have three problems.
The smaller the subwoofer the less capable it will be of producing usable output at low frequencies.
It generally takes a large sub with a lot of cone travel, which brings you to your second problem. To get a sub to produce those frequencies takes a lot of power. Your Pyramid may advertise 1000w, but that is a peak power (marketing/meaningless) rating. It doesn't indicate the acutal power capability of the amp at all. It is probably 150-200w rms.
Lastly, the enclosure. If ultra low frequency performance is your goal, and 15hz is unusually low, the best way to go about it is a LARGE low tuned ported enclosure.
You need a high quality, preferably large sub, a lot of power, and a specially designed and built enclosure.
