I have a 960 watt amp and a 700 watt amp. Is a 4 gauge amp install kit big enough?
I dont know whether or not the wattage rating given on the amp install kits are RMS or Max. it is for this reason that i do not know what size wire i should get. For example i had a wire kit from Kicker that said for up to 3000 watts. When i recieved the kit, it was 3000 RMS but it didn't specify when i ordered it. This kit contained 0/1 gauge wire. would that be too big? The other kit i was looking at was from Rockford Fosgate. It had a 1200 watt rating but once again didn't specify RMS or max. WIll the 0/1 gauge kit that i have work for the amps that i have (700 watt Hifonics & 960 watt Power Acoustik) or should i get a different kit?
0/1 would be fine. going bigger can never hurt, but going to small can starve the system of power. so if you wanna install that kit then you'll be fine
