To obtain optimum fuel mileage you need to slow down.Keep your speed at 60 MPH or less. Keep the left door closed, In other words stay in the seat and minimize your stops. Use cruise control whenever possible. Drive like you had an egg between your right foot and the accelerator.Do not mash your foot to the floor on acceleration.Use progressive shifting, Shift gears at low RPM's never maximizing RPM's until the truck is in high gear.Minimize Idle time. Plan your stops .eg do not use rest areas where you have to come off the freeway at freeway speeds. Make your rest breaks in areas where you are forced to slow because of speed limits.By using simple techniques like these you will get the best fuel milage. By the way the areodynamics of anr truck are about the same around 55 MPH. it is at higher speed that the areodynamics have the most effect.
