Nissan and Infiniti cars are equipped with two new safety technologies, Forward Collision Avoidance Assist Concept and Moving Object Detection.
The first one helps the driver to avoid hitting a vehicle by reducing the risk of sudden braking. A radar sensor monitors the distance from the car in front and its relative speed. If deceleration is required, the driver is alerted through a screen display and sound. Then a force is generated that pushes the accelerator pedal and applies partial breaking, assisting the driver to slow the car down. If there is still a possibility of collision, the system applies harder braking while at the same time tightens the seatbelt of the driver.
The second system is available with other auto makers, but the version offered by Nissan offers supplementary information to the driver when he starts the car or drives at low speeds. The older version, Around View Monitor, was launched in October 2007 and was available on Infiniti EX and FX. It also uses screen display and an audio buzzer which informs the driver of moving objects that are close to the car, pedestrians included. It does so when you start the car, park it or when driving at low speed. This new feature could also be helpful in intersections with poor side visibility.
Several automakers are offering features that offer more awareness of their surroundings, and the systems are capable of higher performance if compared to the driver's abilities. Acura, Lexus, Ford or Mercedes-Benz have similar systems, but the new Nissan Forward Collision Avoidance Assist Concept takes things a step further. The Moving Object Detection uses a surround view camera system to notice any pedestrians or objects moving close to the vehicle. However, unlike similar systems on Volvo or Lexus, it only works for low speeds and does not apply brakes.
The new safety features will probably be available on Infinity next year. Nissan is not only offering improved safety feature on its vehicles. The electric Leaf has zero-emissions status, and the devotion towards electric vehicles seems to be greater than that of other car makers.
Improving emissions and increasing fuel economy is a goal for all the vehicles offered by Nissan. Next month, Nissan will launch the next generation XTRONIC CVT, continuously variable transmission. In the next few years, several hybrid models will be launched, among which Fuga Hybrid or Infiniti M35 Hybrid are the most interesting.
Use of low-displacement engines such as the HR12DE three cylinders and the HR15DE 1.5 liter is also planned for the future but also for the newly launched Juke.

Acura Tl Receives Upgrades
In the luxury car segment, a car manufacturer has to be always on the lookout on how to improve a car whenever it is called for. Established in 1986, Acura is a relative newcomer to the luxury car segment. But the quality and popularity of their models belie that fact. The Acura TL, in fact, is the second best selling luxury sedan in the United States and it is next only to the BMW 3 Series.
To compete with a long list of competitors which includes the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Cadillac CTS, Infiniti G35, Jaguar X-Type, Lexus ES, Mercedes-Benz C Class, Saab 9-3 and the Volvo S60, the TL was redesigned recently by the Japanese car manufacturer.
The best selling Acura model was restyled not only on the outside but also inside and even under the hood. Outside, the new Acura TL is characterized by rounded edges which give you the feeling that the car would cut through the air gently. In fact, the Acura TL’s redesign gave it a lower coefficient of drag. This makes the new TL come with a sportier look than its predecessor.
Inside the car, Acura used high quality materials to give it the luxury aura that it exudes. Complementing the exterior of the TL, the inside has comfortable leather seats. The seats adequately support both the lower and upper back of its occupants. To make the cockpit more appealing, Acura gave the TL a dual-zone climate control system which is easy to operate. The interior of the TL is adequately padded that little to zero outside noise can be heard inside the vehicle.
The dashboard and center stack are configured to complement the luxurious seats. The center stack of controls is easily visible and understandable. It is also equipped with an eight-speaker surround sound audio system.
The most notable upgrade for the Acura TL is made under its hood. The new Acura TL is now equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine capable of producing as much as 286 horsepower. The engine’s power can be effectively increased with the use of an AEM Acura intake but even without that aftermarket part, the engine provides instant power whenever the driver demands for it.
The engine is designed to provide power almost instantly. Its responsiveness is evident in the fact that it can provide adequate power whether in low or high revs operation. Available for the Type S trim level of the TL is a five-speed automatic transmission. The TL uses paddle shifters which mean that a driver would only need to use his or her hand to shift gears.
The engine provides good power for the TL that it can easily tackle hill climbs. Steering the luxury car is also a strong selling point for the TL. Its responsive handling complements the responsive engine under its hood. Suspension for the Type S is somewhat stiff. This is because the S Type is a performance-oriented trim line.
With the upgrades that the TL has received, it will not be surprising if the popularity of the brand increases. Acura is the luxury division of Honda and it is a known fact that vehicles of these brands are known for heir reliability. With that reputation and the changes made in the exterior, interior and under the hood of the TL, the car would surely give the BMW 3 Series a good fight in the auto market.

Which should I buy used: BMW 3 series, C-Class Benz, Lexus, Acura,or Infinity?
I currently own a 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX. Well after owning this car for over a year I am not satisfied. The car is great handling and performance wise and that's about it! I am looking for a car with comfortable leather seating for long trips, ammenities, and last but not least RELIABILITY. I have been reading numerous amounts of reviews about all of the above cars. I noticed that MB and BMW seem to have the most repairs of all. But then again there were only 6-7 negative reviews out of 200. So I am curious what you guys have to say. I don't want to do what I did a year ago and regret this car. I was going to go with the 2002-2004 MB C230 Kompressor Coupe until I started to really read the reviews on Mercedes. I really hope somone can give me honest feedback on these cars and perhaps owned one themselves. Thanks!
Stay away from German cars, they have maintenance issues that are very expensive to repair and maintain, like $1500 for timing belt service, $400 sensors, etc. Japanese cars seem to have better maintenance records and, depending on brand, have lower maintenance costs. My daughter had an Acura that she liked really well. Leather seats, style, etc. Now, she's a rider, not a driver after totalling it and getting the DUI. 
Me, I'm a Chevy man. I just bought my mother a 2006 Chevy Cobalt. Nice little car, reliable, nice interior/exterior lines, not very expensive, unless you do all the upgrades and even then, it wouldn't cost as much as a Toyota Camry. Plus, there's a Chevy dealership on practically every corner, so parts and service aren't an issue. I like driving it and I own a Z06 Corvette and a Silverado LS 4x4 and I'm picky. So, if you need to impress someone, go with an Acura or Lexus. If you want a decent car that you won't be in debt forever over, buy something like a Cobalt.
