I am about to buy a GPS (my first)... It will be be used mostly for boating purposes on medium sized lakes (marking fishing spots)... I was looking at the Lowrance ifinder H20 for about $169.... Are there any better suggestions, what should I look for in one....thanks
First of all you need to realize that every GPS unit will have positives and negatives about the use. I recommend you find a unit in the price range you can afford, talk to others who have that particular model and get their input and familiarize yourself with the model you choose. What works great for me may not be ideal for you, try to get one that will cover as many of the uses you will be using it for.
If it is going to be used strictly for fishing and be mounted on a boat the try to get one that has sonar capability. On the other hand if you are also going to use it for hiking and hunting get something you can load maps into with ease and isvery dependable.
I use a Magellan Explorist 210 for fishing, bicycling, hiking and geocaching. My unit cost me about $160.00
