I ran across a video that sparked my interest and I want to share my thoughts with you. I'll briefly review the contents of the one minute clip from "Katie Couric's Notebook," which airs on ABC Nightly News.
Essentially, her musings are based upon the alarmingly high number of babies and toddlers that are consuming television, before they're developmentally able to process what they're seeing. What about your precious little ones? How much TV do they consume on a regular basis? What are they watching? Is it healthy? It's important to know.
Anyone who knows me well will tell you, I strongly advocate monitoring what children take in, especially during their formidable years. My husband Kenya and I, are sticklers about this issue with our 4 mini-Hobbs. We have to be, because marketers are targeting our children with TV shows, movies and merchandise. Thus, it is our responsibility as parents to guard their little eyes, ears, hearts and minds, from negative influences. We must be the gatekeepers. Everything needs to pass through us first. I can't stress this enough.
As a matter of fact, I wrote an article that was recently published in Infuse Magazine about, how to protect our children from the media's influence. I received overwhelmingly positive feedback from parents who are genuinely concerned about raising children with strong Christian values. Moms are recognizing, now more than ever, how crucial it is to "pay attention to what they're paying attention to." Rather than having our kids tune into television shows, we need to tune into them.
Even when we're busy, we need to make time. Read to them. Pray with them. Talk to them. Do arts and crafts. Play with them. Don't let television steal away those precious moments. After all, they grow up so fast. My oldest daughter is 8 years old. Yet, I remember so vividly, proudly cradling her in my arms when she was just a tiny infant. Now she's growing so rapidly and formulating opinions about the world. I can't help thinking, "Am I doing all I can to equip her to be a world changer for Christ? Or am I allowing her to be molded and shaped by secular views?"
Ask yourself the same questions. What's your answer?
Until next time . . . may you be empowered to prosper!

Do you really need a Baby Changing Station?
As a parent to be, its very easy to spend huge amounts of money on those essential pieces of nursery equipment which you think you will need to get you through those early days. But you really have to wonder how essential are ‘the essentials’? Parents with toddlers will be more than aware of just how much money is wasted on baby equipment which is supposed to simplify and ease the process of parenting but is in fact never really used!
According to most parenting magazines, one of the ‘essential’ pieces of furniture which ‘every nursery should have’ is a changing station. Before you go running to your local baby shop or searching for the cheapest deal online to get yours, save yourself the hassle, cost and effort of buying, using and having a changing table and consider the following facts:
- Changing your baby on an elevated surface can be dangerous. The SAFEST place to change your infant / toddler is at floor level.
- A changing table / workstation can cost from £80 upwards depending whether you wish to have a basic table or one which matches with a particular theme / brand name.
- A changing table takes up valuable room in your nursery / bathroom
- A changing table is simply another surface which can harbour germs and needs to be cleaned regularly!
So what you essentially want is a baby changing mat / waterproof sheet / towel to lay your child upon comfortably (on the floor), a packet of wipes/ cotton wool and water and finally a clean nappy.
For simple storage simply tuck your changing mat under the cot or perhaps down the side of the sofa for ease and accessibility during the day.
By simply using a changing mat on the floor you will find it is now more convenient to change your baby in any location as the mats are light and easy to transport. The price of a changing mat is fairly cheap and therefore you could even splurge and buy almost ten for the price of one changing table, that’s one for every room of the house and probably a few more for the car too!
If you are adamant that you must have a designated changing surface, then the best option has to be a baby cot top changer. It simply sits across the cot /cot bed forming a secure work surface. Please note that the cot top changer should have a safety buckle or strap which is secured to the top rail.
Unlike the changing station, the cot top changer can be stored away without taking up vast amounts of space and its a fraction of the price!
Save yourself from wasting the ‘real essentials’ (money, time, effort, space, safety risks and more) and don’t bother with a changing station!

How can I remove my CDs from my CD changer in my Jeep Grand Cherokee?
I had a new CD deck installed in my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and now that it is installed my CD changer is no longer connected to my stereo and therefore has no power. All of my CDs are stuck in the magazine in the changer and I wanted to know if there was a way to remove them without removing the stereo to reconnect the power supply to the CD changer.

I cant press the eject button because there is no power and the eject mechanism is motorized.
can you people see that he said there is no power to it.. just pushing the button wont do anything.. you would have to set power to it, if you can see the wires and know which is + and which is - , then just connect a jumper wire to it, if not you may have to re connect the old stereo or try to pry it out but you will most likely break it..
Baby carriers: One size does not fit all
Since the birth of her son a year ago, Lesley Doyle has become something of a baby carrier fanatic. She has a growing collection of carriers (10 at last count) that allow her to strap her son to her front, side and back so she can hold him hands free.
