I can't believe I'm writing this, because advertising annoys me just about as much as the rest of you. Sure, I appreciate the occasional humorous or clever ad, but not after the hundredth time and they are few and far between.
But as someone who spends a good deal of time researching business and community history in the 18th and 19th centuries, ads in newspapers and city directories are an essential part of my research - and I unhesitatingly love these ads. They provide information about a specific company and its community, available products and technological advances, consumer taste, pricing, standards of language, artwork, and printing, and the list goes on.
You get the idea! These ads - print, of course - help illustrate earlier times and give us the histories of the businesses that sustained communities and families generations ago (and some of them are still with us, which is even more fun).
How does this apply to your business?
I would humbly suggest that you put yourself in the shoes of a researcher 50 years from now, in 100 years. What do you want them to know about your business, and where will they be able to find the information?
We have no way of knowing how people will search for and retrieve information in 100 years, but it's safe to assume that someone will invent software to convert how we store information today into future formats.
So, in your business files, why not keep an archive of all of the ways in which your business tells its story? After all, you want control of your story, and someone will be interested.
Examples of your archive's content include:
• A history of your business
• Mission and vision statements
• Stored or printed versions of your Web site each time you make significant changes
• Your annual report, newsletter, brochure, and other marketing publications
• Event materials -- print and video
• Clippings
• Examples of ads in all formats
• Photographs of key people and your physical plant
• Examples of your products
• Internal documents that define and explain your business, including legal documents.
Trust me when I tell you, if EVERY business kept such a file and deposited it in an information center such as your local public library, business library, or historical society, my job as a historian would be so much easier!
Why not start your archive now, and identify where you will keep it on deposit. Then update it every five years.
You will be in charge of telling your story now, and in the future. Interesting to contemplate!

I purchased this set for a Christmas present for my dauther, age 23. She absolutely loves it, and several of her friends have commented on the cool eye colors she's been wearing. It is fairly small but a little goes a long way and the color seems to last most of the day. I most likely will be buying her one next Christmas as well.

I was skeptical about buying this product based on mixed reviews, but now I'm so glad I got it. I received the item in great condition (no cracks, broken colors, not even any loose powder or anything). The colors are beautiful and look exactly as shown in the pictures. The only difference is that the numbers aren't printed on the plastic. That is fine with me as those numbers wouldn't have done me any good at all. The size of each color isn't too big or too small. Overall I think this palette is great, especially for the price.

Sephora never ceases to amaze me. All of there products I have used have been good quality. With so many different colors, I expected the quality to be half as good as it would be if I would have bought individual ones but I was wrong. Each and every color stayed on effortlessly and felt amazing as I put them on. Everyday, according to my outfit, I change up the colors and play around. Its great having all of the colors you need in one, instead of buying them all separately and spending a lot of money.

Is AAA Insurance a ripp off?
I have AAA insurance in Concord, Ca and I was recently talking to a buddy of mine who said she has Geiko and pays 2,000 every 6 months for her new Ultima, and 4 other cars which makes 5 in total. I then realized that I pay 3,500 every 6 months for my Neon 03, Mazda 04 and Toyota truck, let me also add that I don't have any tickets AT ALL... and my mom is on the insurance as well. She has no tickets, and the Neon and Mazda are already paid off in full. Am i getting jacked???? Help!!!!!
It depends on what you want in insurance. Do you want the bare minimum, make you legal to drive, and hope you never have to actually use your insurance? Or do you want to be both legal and taken care of if you get in an Accident. "Supposedly" the price difference is because of great service or something if you do actually get in an accident. This is where you have to weigh the actual dollar amount you spend versus if you believe in that other stuff. Personally, I drive older cars and just keep the bare minimum cheap insurance on them. If I ever do get in an accident and the company won't pay, that's what a lawyer is for.
