When it comes to making crafts with kids it seems like you can always find tons of crafts that you can do with older children and even preschool age children. But it seems like you can never find enough crafts that you can do with babies or even two-year olds. The good news is if you look hard enough and have enough patience you can find and do crafts with this age group as well.

Here are some simple butterfly crafts that you can do with children of all ages, including infants.

Fingerprint Butterflies

Materials

  • Stamp pads
  • Paints
  • Pens
  • Paper

Instructions

Make sure that you press firmly for this project. The reason for this is that firm presses make oval shapes and gentle presses make circle shapes. Butterflies do not have circular wings so you want to press firmly to avoid that.

Stamp your index finger into paints or onto a stamp pad. You can use one color or you can use mixed colors, depends on what effect you are looking for with the butterfly.

Make one stamp on the paper at a slight angle.

Make a second stamp that slightly overlaps the first stamp. But you want to make sure that it is at the opposite angle as the first stamp.

Stamp your pinkie or ring finger in the paint or stamp pad.

Make a third stamp below the first stamp, but make it at a downward angle.

Make a fourth stamp that overlaps the third stamp. You also want to make sure that the third stamp is at the opposite angle of the fourth stamp.

With a black marker or a thin paintbrush draw a body and antenna to finish off the project.

Heart Butterfly Paper Craft

Materials

  • Paper
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Instructions

Print out a template for the project at http://www.dltk-holidays.com/valentines/mbutterfly.htm

Color the picture where it is needed and where it is appropriate.

Cut out the template pieces. Keep in mind that the pieces on the template are at about the angle they will be on the finished craft. This should help you sort out which pieces belong where.

Glue the pieces together

To make a wing, glue the very large, large and medium hearts inside one another. Repeat for the second wing

To make the body, stack the smallest hearts one on top of another and glue together. Make sure that you position it so that all of the hearts are upside down.

Glue the heart with the face on it to the top of the body so that it is right side up.

If you are doing it on a background, like a card, add the two tiny hearts over the head and draw a line to make the antenna. If not using a background just skip this part.

Glue the wings onto the back of the body to finish off your butterfly.

Tips

Glue the heart butterfly to the front of a folded over piece of construction paper or a doily so that you can make a cute Valentine's Day card.

Use fancy paper from the scrapbooking store and print the black and white version onto it for an extra fancy butterfly.

To make the butterfly into a puppet tape a straw or popsicle stick to the bottom of the butterfly.

To make it into a felt board character slue a small piece of sandpaper on the back.

You can also make the butterfly into a crown by cutting 4 inch wide strips and taping the, together to make the base of the crown. Then tape the butterfly to the center of the crown for a Valentine's Day hat.

Give Up The Antenna And Get Cable?

I have been trying to convince my aunty for months to give up the antenna on her roof and turn over to cable. She is not hurting for money and cable television would truly help her fill up her day while she is at home taking care of her mother.

She does watch TV but she watches the same channel all day long. I keep telling her of all the cool things about HDTVs and how she could easily switch out her old antenna and change it with a newer antenna, which would give her higher quality pictures, but she won't make the switch.

I guess people just don't like change. I know it is not a money thing because she has a lot of it and I even offered to buy her one. Her response was, "I already have a television". I guess my big push for an HDTV comes from my own experience with them. We live in a very small municipality in Texas.

We don't have much in the form of amusement so we depend on our tv for our nightly recreation and parties. When I saw the clear pictures at our local Circuit City, I was stunned and immediately hooked. Then I heard about the antenna you can buy either for the outdoors or indoors.

I thought this was great because our cable company charges an arm and a leg for the new channels. All we needed to do was pay for the antenna one time. We installed the indoor one in a matter of minutes. As soon as we turned our HDTV on, it scans the channels and picked them all up, I was so excited.

Now, I watch all the great high quality picture shows on channels like TBS and the most popular ones like CBS and NBC. Watching television was never as pleasant as it is now. It's like the people are sitting in your den with you or you are with them in whatever place they are.

The History Channel makes you feel like you have transported yourself from the little town you live in to just anywhere in the world. I love this tv and I just wish my loved ones would see.

I don't know, I guess one of these days someone in the family will get in touch with the present and buy themselves a nice HDTV. Until then they will just continue to watch their little 21" out of date junkie Televisions.

Will I need a digital antenna after conversion?

or did Radio Shack lie?

I have my digital converter hooked up to my old TV which is hooked up to my old antenna.

If you intend to watch free Over The Air TV, you will need an antenna. Any TV antenna will work equally well for analog as for digital. There is no such thing as a "digitl" or "HD" antenna, that's just marketing hype. You do need a VHF/UHF antenna though, as many communities have stations in both bands.

If your current antenna is not rusted or bent and you are getting all the digital channels, you are all set. If you are missing channels, you may need to upgrade your antenna. Visit http://www.antennaweb.org . Based on you zip code, the site will give you a list of stations in the area, suggestion on the proper type of antennas and guidance on where to aim them.

1999 Oldsmobile Alero GLS from North America - Comments
Concerning the rear defroster issues on an Alero; If you notice, there is no radio antenna on the Alero, unlike a Grand Am of similar year. The Olds Alero uses a combined grid on the rear window for the purpose of radio reception (antenna), and (heated) defrost.
