do you really need to back up your system before installing windows xp service pack 2?
someone in the house interrupted the installation of service pack 2. had to uninstall and "contact administrator". i'm assuming that means uninstall and reinstall. so i uninstalled, and when it restarted the screens resolution had changed. assuming that it uninstalled the service pack altogether, all that needs to be done is install SP2. my dad's hung up on the "back up your system" part, and i think that it's an uneccessary precaution. so "do you REALLY need to back up your system before installing windows xp SP2?"
Not neccesarily, I've done it a few times without losing anything, as have everyone else I know that's done the upgrade, but things still can go wrong so it's probably a wise precaution.
