It happened again, just as Toyota is doing everything to do some damage-control in the US, it has now happen in Europe and Asia. For those of you who have no idea whats going on, the problem with the worlds biggest car manufacturer is the defective gas pedals that initiate out of control acceleration.
The report comes at a very bad time for Toyota where it had previously halt production from a few of its factories in North America. The recall has spread to Europe in view of the fact that the defective accelerator pedals were also used in Toyota's European market.
Its bad enough that Toyota had suffered a blow in their sales because of the global financial crisis but this adverse turn of event will not only further jeopardize their profit but will also place a big scar on their reputation as a maker of top-notch quality cars with dependable attributes. The cost in fixes each month will also cost Toyota hundreds of millions of dollars and this controversy has given other car manufacturers an edge.
In the US, a number of disasters involving Toyota cars have previously happened which caused fatalities. One very troubling one came from a 911 call in the San Diego, California where 4 individuals in a Lexus crashed because of a stuck gas pedal.
It is reported that an estimated 1.8 million vehicles will be recalled in Europe, including the UK, bad news doesn't stop there. The pending recall in China is also said to total over 75,000 mainly for Toyota RAV4s. All have the same issue of faulty gas pedals.
Can the faulty accelerator pedal be blamed completely to Toyota? Toyota may be receiving the brunt of this controversy but a notable detail is that Toyota gets their gas pedals from a third party supplier, CTS Elkhart. Even though CTS has already made attempts to replace the faulty gas pedals, the reputation of Toyota has already been dented, possibly irreparable.
Toyota has also cautioned drivers of floormats trapping accelerator pedals.

Gas pedals are not the issue with the Prius but its brake pedal instead. where many Toyota drivers in Japan and the US have encountered sporadic unresponsive braking.
The Toyota car models being recalled are 2009-10 Corolla, 2009-10 RAV4, 2009-10 Matrix, 2007-10 Camry, 2005-10 Avalon, 2007-10 Tundra, 2010 Highlander, and 2008-10 Sequoia. If you drive any of these models, you should inform your dealer and have them take care of the issue. Should you experience a glitch with your accelerator, you must step on the brake pedal with one strong stomp instead of little by little and pull-up the handbrake.

Toyota has initiated three major recalls between September 2009 and February 2010 due to defects in various models of Lexus and Toyota vehicles. Approximately 9 million vehicles have been affected by these recalls. If you are driving one of these defective autos, you should contact your local Toyota dealership to learn more about recall protocol.
Sudden Unintended Acceleration
The first two recalls, initiated in September 2009 and January 2010, both dealt with problems related to sudden unintended acceleration of the vehicle. The first recall was associated with vehicles containing defective floor mats that would cause the gas pedal to get lodged underneath the mat. This would result in uncontrollable acceleration of the vehicle.
The second recall addressed defective accelerator pedals that are prone to sticking, leading to sudden unintended acceleration. Toyota believes the sticking gas pedals are caused by their electronic throttle control system.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has received over 2,000 complaints regarding sudden unintended acceleration problems, resulting in 29 auto accidents and 37 fatalities. Vehicles involved in these recalls include:

Toyota Prius Hybrid nad Lexus HS250h Hybrid Anti-Lock Brake System Defects
In February 2010, Toyota announced a recall of 2010 Prius Hybrid and Lexus 250h Hybrid vehicles due to defective anti-lock brake systems. The problems with the anti-lock brake systems have caused a hazardous time lapse between pressing the brake pedal and moment the vehicle comes to a stop.
This problem has been linked to a software glitch. Toyota is currently working on a solution to the defective product. Currently, the NHTSA has received 124 complaints regarding this problem.
Toyota Corolla Power Steering Problem
While the 2009 and 2010 Toyota Corollas have not yet been recalled, there have been mounting complaints associated with these vehicles. The NHTSA has currently received approximately 100 reports of problems with the power steering on these autos. This issue has been linked to six accidents resulting in ten injuries.
Due to power steering problems, these vehicles have a tendency to swerve to the right or left at high speeds. During highway driving, vehicles may even drift out of lane. If you drive a 2009 or 2010 Corolla, you should contact your local dealership to stay up-to-date on any potential recalls that may occur in the near future.

A Forerunner, Explorer, or Pathfinder I can understand. But what does "Sentra" mean? How about "Avalon" or "Prius"? How about "Taurus"? That's the astrological sign for Taurus the bull, so does that mean your car is supposed to be stubborn and strong-willed?
