FEMA also has recommended pre-winter car care tips. Have a mechanic check your antifreeze level so that it is sufficient enough to avoid freezing. Battery and ignition systems should be in prime condition and the battery terminals should be free of corrosion. Exhaust system should be checked for leaks and crimps in tubing so that no carbon monoxide leaks into the vehicle. This could be deadly and should always be checked. Also check all other equipment on your car to make sure it is in proper working condition for the winter months.
If you live in a winter weather prone area make sure you have good quality winter tires installed on your vehicle. These include all weather radials, which should be good enough for most areas. Always maintain a half tank of gas during the winter season. You might never know where you are stuck at and it is important that you have enough gas in your tank to get to the next gas station to get a fill up. Always dress for winter weather by wearing several layers of clothes that are adequate for the harsh cold.
You may think that these comments do not apply to you where you are living. However, winter weather is often unpredictable and you might find yourself in a situation that you need some of this lifesaving equipment. Do not think that you are foolish for getting your car checked for the winter weather season either. How to get out of the "SAFE" modus on a 95' VW Jetta Radio??
I tried to Cancel the safe modus once, like it says in thr Handbook. But it didn't worked. And now where it supose to show a "1000" it only shows"SAFE" over and over. Please help!!
