Here are some more information for Radio Volvo:

It happens every year. Another cruising sailboat or powerboat gets an unintended haircut passing under a bridge too low for their mast or antenna height. You can avoid this expensive lesson when you know these five easy to learn sailing tips on chart navigation bridge symbols at a glance!
Fixed Bridges Make Unbroken Lines
Look for an unbroken line between the river or channel banks. This indicates a fixed bridge. Near the end of the span, you will see notes on the vertical and horizontal clearance. Vertical clearance tells you the approximate amount of room you can expect at an average high tide.
But twice twice a month, at the time of a full or new moon, higher tides, called "spring tides" will occur. This means you will have much less clearance than stated on your navigational chart. Look in your paper or nautical almanac to keep track of these periods.
Bascule Bridges Break in Midstream
Do you see an open gap in the middle of the span, with two small arcs, or "eyebrows" on the ends? This indicates a bascule bridge, also called a drawbridge. Just like those old drawbridges from King Arthur's time, bascules open their draws--or leafs--on one or both sides to allow vessels through.
Call the bridge tender to request passage through a bascule bridge. Make your call on VHF channel 16, shift to channel 13 to communicate. In Florida, use VHF Channel 9 for bridge requests. (see below if you are unable to communicate by radio).
Swing Bridges for One-Way Traffic
Similar to bascules, the swing bridge chart symbol shows one subtle difference. Look for a small bar, turned at a 90 degree angle, inside the open gap. This means that a central bridge segment pivots between the spans to allow one-way traffic through each side. Use great care when you pass through a swing bridge. Just like on the roads, there might be someone that tries to pass through the wrong way on a one-way! Call the bridge tender to request passage.
Lift Bridge Monsters on Stilts
Imagine a giant transformer on stilts and you have the lift bridge. On your nautical chart, look for an unbroken span with two small arcs, or "eyebrows", near the center. These monsters rise between their legs like a massive elevator. Stay clear until you are positive that the bridge has stopped at the top. As before, you must call ahead to request an opening from the bridge tender.
How to Request a Bridge Opening Without a Radio
What do you do if you are unable to contact the bridge tender by radio? Use your whistle or fog horn. Use these signals. Notice that you must receive one of two signals from the bridge tender.
Boat Signal:
"I request an opening"--"One prolonged (4-6 second) blast followed by one short (1 second) blast.
Bridge Tender:
"I will open the bridge"--One prolonged blast followed by one short blast. Or, "I cannot open the bridge"--Five short blasts.
Use these five easy sailing tips to learn chart navigation bridge symbols and signals for sailing safety. Keep your sailing season safe and fun and boost your sailing skipper skills to a whole new level!

Bmw 1 Series Convertibles Coming to the US
The German automaker BMW AG has recently announced that it will roll out the new 1 Series Coupe in the United States market starting in 2008.
According to a BMW official press release, "For those whose definition of pure driving pleasure includes wind in the face and sunshine above, the new BMW 1 Series Convertible follows the tradition established by the iconic BMW 2002 sport sedan. The essence of such driving purity - a responsive six-cylinder engine positioned within a rear-drive chassis to provide balanced, sporty dynamics - is at the heart of this compact four-place convertible."
Two 1 Series models are bound for the US: the 135i Convertible and the all new BMW 128i Convertible model.
The 135i Convertible comes with the BMW's twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine under its hood capable of producing 300 horsepower and pulls out 300 lb-ft amount of peak torque from 1,400 rpm. This power unit features piezo gasoline injectors, twin low-mass turbochargers, and air-to-air intercooler. With these, the engine offers a powerful performance and impressive fuel economy. The engine also enables the 135i Convertible to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 5.6 seconds, reaching an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.
Meanwhile, the BMW 128i Convertible is equipped with the 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine that generates 230 horsepower and develops 200 lb-ft amount of peak torque. The engine comes with powertrain features like Valvetronic valvetrain management and aluminum/magnesium cylinder block construction.
Both models in the BMW 1 Series Convertible models comes with the traditional BMW design philosophy and elements like the BMW kidney-shaped grill, front skirt, door sills and rear skirt are identical to the 1 Series Coupe. Other exterior features found on the 2008 BMW 1 Series Convertible include softtop available in either black or taupe cloth with optional Moonlight Black version, flared shoulder line, trunk lid with integrated spoiler chiseled into the rear end, additional lip spoiler (for 135i), L-shaped rear taillights, Adaptive Brakelights, and Adaptive Xenon Headlights (standard on the 135i, optional on the 128i) with daytime headlight function.
Moving inside, these two BMW 1 Series Convertible models for the US market feature a comfortable interior with a host of in-car information and entertainment amenities. These include sporty standard upholstery of Leatherette, sports bucket seats with enhanced side support, climate-control system with three standard modes (gentle, medium and intensive), SIRIUS satellite radio, HD radio, optional Premium Sound system, Bluetooth connectivity, MP3 player connection, auxiliary input jack, optional USB port for direct control of an Apple iPod, optional navigation system, BMW iDrive controller integrated in the center console, and a spacious storage space.
In addition, the BMW 1 Series Convertible for the US also comes with a wide array of passive and active safety equipments. These include advanced frontal airbags, side airbags integrated into the sides of the front seat backrests, crash-optimized seats with specially padded headrests and backrests, three point inertia reel seat belts and headrests, standard LATCH attachments for child seats, roll-over sensor, and front-seat-belt tensioners.
On the technical side, the BMW 1 comes with a high-tech suspension with newly-developed differential. The front suspension consists of aluminum double-pivot, while the five-link fully independent rear suspension is made from lightweight steel. Other tech feats include standard BMW Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) function.
These two BMW 1 Series Convertible models will enter the U.S. and compete with the other models in the segment including Volvo convertibles with Volvo accessories.

00 Volvo S80, Radio Unlock Procedure?
00 Volvo S80, Radio Unlock Procedure?
I have aquired the serial number off of the radio and have gone to the dealer to get the Radio Code. My problem is the radio says nothing on the display. When I press the on/off button nothing happens.
How to I turn on the radio to enter the unlock code?
If the radio is locked out, How do I unlock it?
Is there a way to reset the radio if need be?
If anyone can answer these questions that would be great.
thanks a lot in advanced.
Trev.
the radios on the S80s are not like the others that have the security unlock codes. your radio is actually an audio module that is part of the computer communication throughout the vehicle. you cannot swap audio modules {radios} from one vehicle to another unless you bring it to the dealer and do an AUM reload {reload the software into the module}.
If it is still the original radio {AUM} then check the fuses or possibly a bad radio.
