For the most part, the 2010 Chevy Silverado remains the same vehicle it was in the '09 season. There are a few notable differences in what is available for interior accessories. There are still the same trim packages, body styles, and engines as before. Although it remains largely untouched, these trucks are still more than capable of competing with both the Ford F-series and Dodge Ram. Since the major redesign of these trucks in the mid 2000's, they have seen increased frame strength and a much improved interior quality.
Chevy offers a regular cab, extended cab, and crew cab. The regular cab only has two doors with front bucket or bench seats and minimal rear space behind those seats. Extended cabs have rear doors that can only be opened when the front doors are. Crew cabs offer a great amount of interior space along with 2 rear doors that operate independently of the front ones. Extended cabs offer a decent amount of rear leg room for passengers, but optimal comfort comes with the crew cab, where rear passengers can fully extend there lower appendages. Both extended and crew cabs have rear seats that fold.
Engines offered include a 4.2 liter V-6 with 195 horsepower, a 4.8 liter V-8 capable of 302 horsepower, a 5.3 liter V-8 putting out 315 horsepower, and larger models beyond the half ton have an optional 6.2 liter V-8. All 2010 Chevy Silverados equipped with a V-8 engine are capable of running on E-85 fuel. The V-6 and smaller V-8 engine come with an automatic 4 speed transmission, while all other engine types come standard with a 5 speed automatic. Also available is a 6.0 liter hybrid V-8 that utilizes both a gasoline, and an electric engine. The electric engine does add a little bit of weight to these trucks, and reducing overall towing capacities to 6,100 pounds.
Trim packages available are still the Basic work models, LT, LS, LTZ, and Z71. Basic trucks come with regular cabs and limited accessories. LS models are the mid-level package coming in both regular and extended cabs. An LS truck will have AC, power windows and locks, optional CD players and 2 or 4 wheel drive. Every vehicle has standard rear wheel drive. The LTZ package is Chevy's all out luxury model offering leather upholstery, enhanced center consoles, extended and crew cabs, USB Jacks, and many other options. Z71 models are the off-road packages that come with raised bodies, larger tires, and strengthened suspension parts. Consumers should note that there are there different suspension packages offered for the 2010 Chevy Silverado. There is the standard package that comes on the lower end models, a street package designed for speed and highway driving, and an off-road suspension.
Compared with it's competitors, the Silverado is still a class leader in fuel economy. While Ford boasts it has the best fuel consumption rates, more Chevy packages come out ahead in most cases. Overall consumers can expect between 14 and 20 mpg city or highway driving for gasoline engines, with smaller engines getting the better fuel economy. Hybrid models can push into the low 20's for mpg.
Even without changing much, Chevy can still boast that the Silverado out-competes and leads it's class in many categories. Ride quality and frame strength are some of the best available for pickups, and compared with a F150 the towing capacities are almost identical. Silverados come in a great selection of styles and packages starting at very reasonable prices. For what these trucks offer, consumers looking for a solid reliable work truck should truly consider one of the Silverados offered for 2010.

03 Dodge Ram
The 2003 Dodge Ram has long been the third most popular truck in America behind the Chevy Silverado and Ford F150. The '03 model year marks an attempt by Dodge to produce a great truck in nearly every category, mostly gain more notoriety. The new body styles of these trucks are more than impressive and actually are the most modern in appearance of any '03 pickup. One area that the Ram falls behind it's competitors is still fuel consumption, which lags behind for nearly every comparable model.
Dodge offers the same engines as previous models were equipped with. There is 3.7 liter V6, 4.7 liter V8, and a 5.7 liter V8. The later is a Hemi engine, known for it's power and smooth acceleration capabilities. The last time a Hemi engine was used before the '03 year was in the 1970's when they were used to power muscle. Consumers looking for a basic truck and don't have to haul heavy loads may find a 3.7 liter equipped 2003 Dodge Ram an adequate choice. If relatively large loads will need to be hauled then one of the V8 options is definitely preferred. The body and frame have been reinforced in recent years, making the Ram one of the most capable pickups in the hauling category. Combine the rugged frame with a Hemi engine and you have a class leader in hauling and towing capacities.
Trim packages available are the ST, SLT, and Laramie. Buyers looking for a basic work truck without the extra expensive features will probably be more than satisfied with what the ST has to offer. It doesn't come with a lot of power accessories or fancy features, but it does offer the raw work horse capabilities the 2003 Dodge Ram is known for. Those who want a little more comfort from their work truck should consider a SLT model. Each of these comes with full power accessories, AC, power driver seats, CD players, and many different optional cloth fabrics. Go another step further and you find the Laramie edition, marking Dodge's attempt at a luxury truck. The Laramie has standard features like full leather upholstery, expanded center consoles, cruise control, Hemi 5.7 liter V8 engines, and a variety of other features.
All models come with standard rear wheel drive, and optional 4 wheel drive on properly equipped models. Most models come with a 5 speed automatic transmission as standard equipment. Upper level models can be purchased with either sport or off-road suspension systems. An off road package has a raised body and sturdier suspension to climb over rocks and tough hills. Sports packages have been tweaked for better highway performance, even with heavy loads. There is also a work special package for the 2003 Dodge Ram St models that gives an extra value on additional features to make the truck a little more enjoyable.
As mentioned above, the fuel economy of all models still can't compete with other domestic pickups. That is probably due to the fact that they are relying on the same engines as they have for the last half decade. Overall though, the Ram remains a more than capable workhorse and it must remembered that while fuel economy lags, towing and hauling capacities are higher than practically any other competitor's comparable model.

If my 1990 Dodge ram van is low in ATF, will that keep it from even cranking when i try to start it?
I have a Dodge Ram cargo van, V-6 engine, 1/2 ton.
If the ATF is low (from perhaps not having filled it enough after replacing the neutral saftey switch(?)) would that keep the engine from cranking or starting? If this isn't possible, I'll try the starter next.
If it's "low" I'll say no. Totally evaportated, maybe yes, but remember this is transmission fluid for shifting. You're not doing that when starting. Driving might be another problem. But no, low ATF is down on the list for things to check for when trying to figure out why a car won't start.
And on edit: the two things that keep a car from starting are spark and fuel. Either it's not getting fuel (fuel filter clogged, pump is shot) or it's not getting spark (electricity), meaning anything from the coil to the spark plugs. It could be a variety of things, but I doubt it's your AT fluid.
