Land Rover declares all-new Range Rover as the best of its genre. This is because the automaker has added a number of great auto breakthroughs and architecture to pave the way for a magnificent Rover.
For the model year 2007, Range Rover is given a brand new diesel, Terrain Response, fascia, interior, trim and dashboard, instrumentation, electronic parking brake, cooled seats, revised stereo, a whole new set of exciting vehicle features. The latest Land Rover Range Rover parts include the V8 diesel engine, which is one of the world's most advanced. Compared to the 6-cylinder diesel engine, V8 is more powerful yet has the same fuel economy.
"The TDV8 diesel is a great new engine, to power one of the world's great vehicles - the most complete luxury 4x4," says Land Rover managing director Phil Popham. "Its balance of performance, refinement and economy is unmatched. We believe it makes the Range Rover an even more desirable vehicle, especially in strong diesel markets, and will appeal to many customers who've never considered a diesel before."
"Compared with the outgoing Range Rover diesel, the new engine is up to 75 per cent quieter, a huge improvement," says Al Kammerer, product development director for Land Rover. "In both qualitative and quantitative measures, the new diesel is very similar to the V8 petrol engine - a tremendous achievement." The noise level of the new Range Rover is reduced. Noises are dampened by a comprehensive acoustic system to ensure that extraneous noises are avoided.
The performance of the vehicle is likened to excellent sport cars while its fuel efficiency level is like that of petrol saloon cars. Popham added, "Yet the new Range Rover delivers so much more - great comfort, huge carrying capacity, awesome off-road capability and massive towing ability, all with exemplary refinement."
The Terrain Response feature of Range Rover enhances its on-road and off-road capabilities while reducing driver effort. Terrain Response is a patented technology of the automaker. It allows driver to select one out of 5 terrain settings through a rotary control. Range Rover suspension settings and brakes have been upgraded to match the TDV8. Also, the electronic park brake replaced the hand brake lever in the centre console area.
These features plus significant enhancements made all-new Range Rover stand out from other luxury sport utility vehicles available today. "The most complete luxury 4x4 in the world is now even better," concluded Phil Popham.

China's new Labor Contract Law into Practice
Time: 9:30 (Sat.) March 08.2008
Location: a Carrefour supermarket in Beijing
Scene: More than 100 customers standing impatiently in approx. 25 queues waiting to pay. In each queue, there's only one cashier busy collecting money. "There used to be 3 cashiers in each queue and one additional person helping with packing ! " some people complained. "Why doesn't Carrefour hire more staff?" someone questioned. Each one has to wait averagely 30 minutes before they could pay for what they bought.
Such scene and criticism is not unusual these days.
With reports emerging of mass layoffs preceding its implementation, and factory closures or relocations to cheaper jurisdictions afterwards, the newly-effective Labour Contract Law has drawn criticism from both large employers, who complain that it adds unreasonable costs, and from employees, who are disappointed that the Law does not offer as many benefits for them as compared to the original draft. Employers are becoming very cautious to increase new staff.
These impacts are especially evident in labour-intensive manufacturers. There are many reports since end 2007 and early 2008 that Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea invested manufactures in China are closing its factories in China due to the increase of manpower cost.
Not only Asian investors having such concerns, Olympus Corp. and Yue Yuen Industrial (Holdings) Ltd., the largest branded athletic and casual footwear manufacturer who produce OEM for major international brand names such as Nike, adidas, Reebok etc. has decided to gradually relocate its manufacture to Vietnam in order to reduce cost.
China's largest telecommunication manufacturer Huawei has pushed the disputes about China new Labour Contract Law to the peak. Starting from Sept. 2007, Huawei has persuaded 7000 staff who has been working more than 8 years with Huawei to resign. Huawei afterwards re-hired all these staff and signed new agreement. This action is to avoid the term in the new Labour Contract Law: -
1. "If the employee has been working for the employer for a consecutive period of not less than 10 years, an open-ended employment contract shall be concluded, unless the employee requests the conclusion of a fixed-term employment contract."
2. "prior to the renewal, a fixed-term employment contract was concluded on two consecutive occasions, an open-ended employment contract shall be concluded."
This resign-rehire action has cost Huawei more than USD14 million. But the huge cost and criticisms from media and Chinese government have not stopped Huawei from implementing it.
Starting from end 2007, Century Dragon and our strategic partner Beijing Limin Law Firm have been busy with revising employment contract and providing consulting and training on the new Labour Contract Law for our customers. Every employer is becoming very cautious and nervous when hiring new staff and signing agreement. Many of our customers have stopped their recruitment plan this year.
This article is not to criticize the new Labour Contract Law, but we believe it deserves time and efforts to evaluate the effect of the new law. If you are seeking for legal advice on the employment no matter you are employer or employee, we welcome you to contact with our lawyer.

A question on my steering wheel position..its not centered?
ok please read this carefully
im posting this again..i had trouble..
00 crown vic
I had the shop replace the pitman arm.Its aftermarket , not oem so its slightly different.
Now the questions is that. When the old one was removed my sterring wheel sat straight .
Now when the new one was put on. The steering wheel is at the 10 oclock position when the car is driving straight.
The told me thats cuz the car needs an alightment.
But i disagree.
I told them that they did not mark the teeth correctly on the gearbox spline and put the pitmanarm on the right tooth which made the wheel off centered...
Am i correct? Should i have them remove it? They told me that since its a aftermarket pitman arm the grooves are different on the insides...thats why its offcentered...
thanks
OK, please read this carefully.
It isn't even possible to install a Pitman Arm on the wrong tooth. Both the Pitman Arm and the Sector Shaft have what's known as a blind tooth. It's like the gap between two of the teeth is filled in on one part, and correspondingly, there's a missing tooth on the other part. You can't take it off and rotate it even a little bit and put it back on, and there's only one way to put a new one on. It's literally fool-proof.
It could conceivably be installed upside down, but then the front of both of your tires would be pointing so far in that they'd be skidding sideways down the street! Are your tires screeching as you drive straight down the street? Take a look underneath, and see if your Center Link is below your Pitman Arm instead of above it, like it should be.

I'm guessing not, because that could hardly fit either. It has a tapered hole, and wouldn't even go on far enough to get the nut started. Again, literally fool-proof.
Or maybe a guy who can't even figure out how to get a Pitman Arm off in the first place knows better? LOL
