Here are some more information for Speakers Crossover:

A speaker is a device that converts an electrical signal into sound. It is an integral part of music systems, televisions, computers, and radios. Every day we listen to music or watch television but never really give much thought to how a speaker actually works.
Speakers work on basic principle of electromagnetism. Electric current is made to pass through a coil of wire which creates a magnetic effect, charging the metal inside. This metal after charging up excites the diaphragm which vibrates and thus results into sound waves. This is the most basic working of a speaker, reversing the flow of electricity to give sound vibrations.
Going into more depth, a speaker has a basic design that consists of drivers, cabinet, bass reflex port, spring clip, and crossover circuit. The drivers convert electrical signal to audible sound. It has a coil of wire that is attached to the amplifier. They are categorized into 4 types based on their overall audio spectrum. Various combinations of drivers decide the design of a speaker. Low-frequency drivers have the ability to provide extra bass. Mid-frequency drivers are responsible for the vocal part of the music. High-frequency drivers are also known as tweeters and are responsible for the delivery of sharp pitch sound. Full-range drivers are the combination of high and mid-frequency drivers work in for balanced audio reproduction.
The electrical signal converted by drivers into audible audio signals is enhanced by the bass reflex port which enhances the low frequency part of the music. It helps in reducing the 'huffing' type effect and is either installed in the front or the rear of the cabinet. Another component, the spring clip also known as binding post provides dedicated amplification to each speaker driver. It is capable of binding bare wires, plugs and spade terminated cables. The last component, The Crossover circuit takes care of channeling various bands to the appropriate drivers. Like high frequency to tweeter and low frequency to bass unit.

The Things You Should Know About Speaker Accessories
Speakers are perhaps one of the most integral parts of any electronic sound system. They make it possible to convert the electronic signals created by the electronic musical instruments into sound signals. Hence nothing would be audible without the help of speakers. There are many types of speakers available. However along with the speakers it is also important to have proper speaker accessories in order to make them work or function properly.
There are several types of speaker accessories available in the market. These are required in order to ensure improved performance of speakers and also to add a touch of elegance and style to the overall image of loudspeakers. Among the general accessories of a speaker, mention may be made of speaker grills, subwoofer filters, 3 way crossovers, speaker poles, cabinet case for speakers, tweeter, speaker stands, etc.
The first accessory that comes to mind as far as speakers are concerned is the speaker stand or speaker cabinet. The stands come in different shapes to suit different types of speakers as well as the different performing situations. 35 mm sockets are very popular options with musicians and other users. Not only that, the stands have other functions based on the positioning of the speakers. You can choose from wall mounted support bracket for your speakers or else you can go for a stand angle socket.
The next speaker part or accessory can be termed the speaker grill. It is available in several types, such as metal grills or fiber ones. Some prefer even typical wooden or plastic grills.
Crossovers are also considered to be useful speaker accessories. The speaker system needs crossovers to dedicate each speaker driver to a particular frequency range by breaking the audio signal into categories like low frequency, high frequency, and sometimes mid range frequencies. Generally there are three sub categories for a crossover: the 1 way crossover, the 2 way crossover and the 3 way crossover.
The speaker poles are very helpful in putting the speakers to a desired height. It enables the sound to reach to each and everyone in the audience. It enhances the sound quality. Adjustable mounting pole, subwoofer attachment shaft, double ended extension tube, etc., are some of the market varieties that you can find for your speaker. Again it should be mentioned that the need for all such accessories depends upon the type and purpose of the speakers used.
Woofers and tweeters form yet another class of speaker accessories. Woofer is the term commonly used for a loudspeaker driver designed to produce low frequency sounds, typically from around 40 hertz up to about a kilohertz or higher. In contrast, a tweeter is the equipment used to reproduce high frequency sounds.
There are several varieties of speaker accessories in the market. Manufacturers of speakers also come up with innovative accessories to add to the style as well as to enhance the speaker performance. There are also many websites that offer used music gear thereby bringing the accessories at a cheaper rate for those who cannot afford brand new ones.

Crossover frequency for Sony SS-F7000 speakers?
I am trying to set up my subwoofer and want to know what the LFE cutoff frequency (crossover frequency) is for the Sony SS-F7000 floor standing speakers.
Please don't make up answers. I already know that 80Hz is THX standard for floor standing speakers, but I want to know if the crossover frequency for these speakers is lower than that.
Will give best answer points for an accurate answer.
The Lowest frequency the SS-F7000 get down to is 35 Hz.
But the response accuracy at that frequency is not as good as say 100 or 80 Hz. By using the higher frequency than what your speakers can get down to... you get a better crossover response. That's why THX use 80Hz. Lots of speakers get down lower that 80Hz so when you set your receiver to cross your sub and speakers at this point... You get a more accurate response at the crossover point.
With that in mind you could use you front speakers with your sub. and set your crossover at say 50 Hz. And it will work. But the wave at 50Hz is so long you will have a harder time controlling it in your room. That's why I like using two or more subs. And I use the THX setting as low frequency response is much better from a sub than with most floor standing speakers. The Cross over will be smootherer.
Try this. On any of the Star Wars DVDs it has a THX optimizer. At the end of the audio section is a test that starts with a test tone at 200Hz and lowers the tone to 20Hz.
If you use this test and find you get a smooth transition from your front speakers to your sub.,, Your set. If you find that you have to ajust you sub to low or high to get to transition to sound smooth... Than you will want to rase the crossover frequency.
Try it out and let me know how it goes.
Brave little one
There’s a TV ad going around that talks about breaking barriers. Its message is subtle and uplifting with a line that goes, “We don’t even know we’re being boxed in.” The clincher of it all is, “Until one day, the barriers we always thought were there, suddenly weren’t.” Though it’s just an ad for a television, it certainly begs you to think about some barriers we’re not aware of.
