Nearly everyone in the mobile communities has heard about the announced Samsung S5620 Monte on the eve of the 2010 Mobile World Congress just concluded. But it looks like this is not all there is to it. The second largest mobile phone maker in the world has two other handsets in the Monte line. These are the Samsung Monte Slider E2550 and Monte Bar C3200.
Basic Features at a Glance
The Monte Slider is not a lite or mini version of its upcoming S5620 Monte touchscreen monolith. Apart from the DNSe (Dynamic Natural Sound engine) it uses to enhance the listening experience with stereo widening and a cosmetic front fascia styling, there's really nothing else in common to claim descendancy.
This is as bare a feature phone as you can get in the 21st century and should be priced accordingly to cover the lowest ends of the market spectrum.
- The Monte Slider is a 2G mobile phone on the dual band GMS (900/1800). Local data connectivity options include Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and microUSB 2.0 for wireless and wired data synching with other handsets or PCs. It comes on a slider form factor body measuring 98.5 x 48.5 x 14.4 mm and weighing a comfortably light 85.5 g.
- Its display is a mere 2-inch TFT LCD with 256k colors and QVGA (240 x 320) resolution. There's a nod to the imaging feature people expect on even the cheapest handset so you get a rudimentary 1.3 megapixel fixed focus camera with nothing else except a QCIF video recording at 15fps
- Phone memory almost doesn't exist at 12 MB with a maximum of 1,000 entries on the phonebook with photocall. There's still the usual microSD expansion slot for up to 8 GB.
- Multimedia comes with the media players for audio and video playback of popular file formats and has a stereo FM radio with RDS capable of broadcast FM recording. It has speakerphones but no 3.5mm headphone jack but its Bluetooth A2DP is there for wireless stereo earphones.
- A standard 800 mAh Li-Ion battery provides up to 6.6 hours of talk time and 16 days of standby time when fully charged.
- It comes with social networking tools for live updates to your favorite social network site Facebook as well as a WAP 2.0 xHTML web browser for surfing at normal speeds often painfully slow speeds outside of 3G.
Conclusion
Much like the disappointing Samsung Shark range, the Monte is, well, just as disappointing if compared to other budget handset. But for sure, it's a capable handset in its class and while there's still no pricing information, we expect this to be bargain handset and should appeal to a market looking for one with a definite edge in 21st century styling.
If you are looking for a truly budget handset that just might come free of change on a 6 month contract, the Samsung Monte Slider E2550 is one good option, though we won't be surprised if slightly older feature phones with better features can be found at a better deal. Samsung has disclosed the release of the Monte family in the 2nd quarter of the year.

whats the din size?
If the two head units are the same size then yes some are din-e and some are din-d but you would definately see the difference just looking at the front as theres a good three inches difference!
When you remove the old head unit there are three plugs in the back of it plus the aerial jack you should be able to just unplug them all and plug them straight into the new unit, if your not sure consult an auto electrician any mistake maybe costly!!!
