Here are some more information for Sub Subwoofer:

I have been a home theater and music enthusiast for the last 15 years. In the last 5 years I have become involved in speaker building and other types of audio related projects. If there is one thing that has come to annoy me it is the lies and misinformation regarding home audio systems over the last 2 decades.
My guess is that companies like Blose have made so much money off of unsuspecting customers that they don't want us to find out what they have been up to.
What have they been up to? Basically slapping some junk-off-the-shelf components together, sticking their name on it, advertising millions of dollars and marking up these crappy products by the hundreds of percent.
In other words; you get about 1/5th the value on your dollar and that is on a good day and a stiff sale. Neither of which you are likely to find any time soon.
The estimated parts costs on a Blose Home Theater system of around 2000.00 retail is about 250.00 dollars max. I'm being generous. The speaker drivers used in their speakers are equivalent to about a 6 dollar driver. No joke!
Bose makes the drivers so they can say they are worth 1,000,000 dollars each if they want. Replacements are about 70.00 to 100.00 each depending on the unit. You can find higher quality drivers from online retailers for about 12.00 USD.
Okay enough Bashing! What's my Point?
If you are remotely handy with some basic wood working tools you can easily make some very cheap and great sounding speakers. Yes, you can compare them directly to Bose if you wish. Are they better? Only you can decide, but I've heard both and I have no doubt in my mind which are better.
Here's what you do:
1. Order some HiVi research B3N drivers from an online retailer.
2. Solder some wires onto the driver terminals.
3. Mount the HiVi B3N drivers in some small boxes that you made out of MDF or birch ply plywood.
4. Run the wires to a decent home theater receiver.
5. Set the receiver crossover to 150Hz and set your main speakers to "small". (use with a cheap subwoofer)
6. Now turn on some music. You can use your PC to provide the tunes.
It took me about 4 hours to build these speakers. I could not believe the results and how good they sounded. This is a great small driver that only costs about 12 dollars from Parts Express. I initially built these little speakers for my wife because she wanted a small system upstairs. They sounded so good we connected them to the TV and use them to play movies and music in our living room.
For Home Theater
You will need to use a subwoofer with these for home theater as they are very small and have limited bass. But even without a sub they sound really good at low volume levels.
For the full build project of the mini cube speakers read more here.
Try this project out and see what you think. If you have sub-woofer and receiver the total cost is about 40.00 USD. Not to bad at all! Have fun with it, I certainly have!

Subwoofers: Square vs. Round
While, on the surface, subwoofer shape might appear to be a purely aesthetic decision (and that is certainly part of it), there must be more to it that that. Just what are the differences between square and round subwoofers and is one variety better than the other?
Square subwoofers, available from fewer manufacturers than their round equivalent, follow the same rules as round subs and come in the same sizes, e.g. 10”, 12”, 15”. On the surface, they can seem like the same product, except for the visible differences, but there are significant differences when it comes to performance.
A square sub of the same size as its round counter-part can produce a greater volume and spl (sound pressure level). If you are trying to make the most of limited space then a square sub will allow you to crank up the volume much more easily with smaller subs.
On the other hand, there are question marks over the sound quality produced by square subwoofers. Some reviews, experts and enthusiasts complain that, although the square subs hit harder and louder, especially in the enclosed environment of a car, the sound quality may suffer from it.
The square subwoofers have the advantage when it comes to volume because the shape of the cone has a larger surface area, meaning a larger volume of air can be used to expel the sound. At the same time the corners mean that the sound waves produced can be distorted slightly. A round sub, on the other hand, as it lacks the corners, has greater fidelity to the original sound.
In the end, the decision comes down to what your requirements are from your subwoofers. If you are looking for the best volume for the space you have available, then a square subwoofer would be a better choice. On the other hand, if you want the subwoofers to add an extra dimension to your sound system and you are more concerned with obtaining the best sound quality possible, a round subwoofer might be your perfect choice. To have both good volume and very high quality sound, you may need to sacrifice a little more space.

Whats the difference when you put a subwoofer upside down in a box instead of sealing it in? Is it special sub
i have seen subwoofers being put upside down meaning the magnet side is out and its facing inside the box. What difference does it make? need details? thanks
It's only for looks.
However, you just can't invert a sub. The space the magnet took up in the box is now outside the box. This changes the internal volume space which changes the characteristics of the boxes tuning which may result in poor performance from the sub.
