Has anyone had experience towing a travel trailer with a 2003 Chrysler Town & Country?
I was hoping to find some gas mileage information from someone with real experience towing a trailer with a Town and Country mini van, preferably with the 3.8 L motor.
First read your owners manual. If your minivan is not equipped with a trailer towing package, the towing limits are quite low.
If it is equipped with a trailer towing package, the limits are still not very high.
Chrysler minivans have plenty of mass to handle a trailer, the current and previous generations are way over 4000 lbs empty, with some models approaching 5000lbs
To answer your fuel economy question - it depends - a little pop-up that is you can not see from directly in front of the vehicle will have little if any effect on the highway fuel economy.
Any trailer that extends past the tow vehicle in width or height will have a significant adverse effect. Trailers that are within the restrictions in the owners manual may reduce the fuel economy by as much as 40%.
