The Dodge Journey is Dodge's first car-based SUV; the Journey is built on the Chrysler Sebring/Dodge Avenger platform. The Journey can be optioned with one of two engines: the base 2.4L 4 cylinder or an optional 3.5L 6 cylinder. The 2.4L 4 cylinder engine is a dual overhead cam unit with sequential fuel injection. The only transmission available is a 4-speed automatic with overdrive. The transmission delivers the engine's power to the front wheels;the Journey is currently not available with all wheel drive when fitted with the 2.4L 4 cylinder engine. The engine delivers one hundred seventy-three horsepower at six thousand revolutions per minute, and torque output is one hundred sixty-six pound feet at four thousand revolutions per minute. The engine returns nineteen miles per gallon in city driving, and twenty-five miles per gallon on the highway.
These fuel economy figures are the best in the Journey's class when comparing U.S. Environmental Protection Agency figures for each vehicle. The optional V6 engine returns sixteen miles per gallon in city driving, and twenty-four miles per gallon on the highway. Power figures for the V6 are two hundred thirty-four horsepower at six thousand four hundred revolutions per minute, and torque output is two hundred thirty-two pound feet at four thousand revolutions per minute. Other features found on the Journey include standard anti-lock brakes, a DVD/video entertainment system, power mirrors, power windows, and power locks. Storage bins under the front-passenger seat cushion and in the second row floor are unique to this vehicle class, and very useful.

The 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid is both innovative and reliable, with several new options that offer higher technology and practicality. Impressive new features on the Highlander Hybrid include the Smart Key System, which automatically unlocks the door as the driver approaches, and also continuously variable transmission, which uses shiftless driving for a smoother ride.
The 2008 Highlander Hybrid offers several standard safety features, including front, knee and side curtain airbags, and side impact door beams. Its Downhill Assist Control makes off-road traveling safer as it is designed to help the driver maintain vehicle control and speed on steep, downhill descents. The Highlander Hybrid is designed with the family in mind, with features like child-protector rear door locks and Child Restraint Systems, which uses top tether anchors.
Chrome headlamp bezels and a unique hybrid grill with chrome surround contribute to the striking look of the Highlander Hybrid, while this SUV has practical features such as a UV-reduction glass windshield and a rear window with electric defogger and intermittent wiper.

Toyota has available in each Highlander Hybrid an Optitron red-illuminated instrument cluster with speedometer, tachometer, water temperature and fuel gauge meters. The Highlander Hybrid’s puts out 270-horse power, making it not only smart, but also fast. Also, its fuel economy gets about 26 mpg.
