I have a question concerning replacing my CD player in my 2003 Tundra?
I get different answers everywhere I go. The system has jbl and some say I will have to pay an extra $100 for a device to turn the factory amp on when my new system comes on. One person said they could hook it up pre-amp and everything would work fine,. Also they said I would have to pay another $100 for a module to make my steering wheel controls work.
Can anyone give me a better answer??
The amp should have a remote power input. This is the virtual switch for turning on/off the amp. If there is voltage applied at the input, the amp turns on, if the voltage is 0v at the input the amp turns off. Your radio has to have this terminal stock or aftermarket its all the same. Identify the remote or power antenna wire on the back of the radio and attached a wire to it and to the remote power input of the amp. But if the amp is a stock amp, then the remote wire should be already connected to the unit. otherwise the amp would be on all the time discharging your car's battery.
