They're mechanically similar, so the answer to the question lies in your needs: do you need a third row of seating and/or inside cargo capacity? If so, the Sequoia. If you don't need the third row, and you have a need for outside (and greater) storage for messy loads or tall items, then get the pickup.
Here's what I'd recommend: you probably wouldn't be asking if you need the third row, so I'll assume you don't. Get the pickup, but get a hard, lockable, watertight cover for the bed, and nets or dividers to keep stuff from sliding around. This way you have a huge secure dry "trunk" for most of the time, but when you need to move furniture, firewood, things like that, you can take it off and use the pickup bed like you could never do with the SUV.
