You go to the doctor every year for your annual checkup. You see the dentist every six months to have your teeth checked and cleaned, you take your car to the shop every 3000 miles to have the oil changed and most States have an annual State Safety Inspection to make sure that your car is operating safely. So why would it be any different with your Overhead Projector?
Proper care, cleaning and general maintenance by a professional technician, can add years to the life of any piece of Electronic Equipment including your Overhead Projector.
Each year our service department offers an annual maintenance program for all of the School Districts that we service. It has been our experience with any type of projector or electronic device that uses a fan for cooling acts like a vacuum cleaner for dust. Most environments that Overhead Projectors and electronic devices are subject to are quite dusty. Over a period of a year an enormous amount of dust can collect inside these units.
Dust can become a fire hazard if enough has built up inside the Overhead Projector. Because of the heat produced by todays Halogen Projection Lamps, an excessive build up of dust can create a fire hazard.
Dust can also decrease the efficiency of your cooling system by over fifty percent, which of course can cause damage to internal components like your fresnel lens and other expensive optical parts. We have seen projectors so dirty that the plastic case has actually begun to melt because of the excessive heat produced by poor cooling. This causes parts like latches and switches to not work properly because the case that they are mounted to becomes distorted and not fit properly.
We all know that cigarette smoking can be hazardous to your health, but were you aware that it is also hazardous to your Overhead Projector. Not as common a problem as it was ten years ago, but the build up of tar and nicotine on the internal parts of your Overhead Projector can cause optics to become hazy and cooling systems to be less efficient or even fail all together.
General maintenance of your Overhead Projector should include removing all of the dust and other debris from the projector with a compressor with at least forty pounds of pressure. The remaining dirt and dust should be removed with a light household cleaner or even a cloth lightly dampened with water. The fan motor bearings should be lightly lubricated with a light oil. Take special care not to use excessive amounts of oil otherwise the fan ends up blowing it all over the internal optics of the projector.
The Fresnel Lens should be removed and cleaned only with water. The stage glass and other optics should also be cleaned with water, other chemicals or cleaners could damage these sensitive items.
Focus assemblies should be checked for wear and replaced as necessary. Focus assemblies not aligned properly diminish the quality of your projected image and in some extreme cases have caused the plastic parts of the head assembly to melt.

Sound Improvement / Reduction
I bought this to improve the cab sound in my Dakota Quad Cab when I was installing new speakers (my wife blew out the old ones!!). It was very easy to work with and install. All I needed was a utility knife to cut the mat to the sizes I needed for the install. It will stay on after it is in place but it is forgiving on install. This means you can make adjustments with the piece you are working with before you roller it down. Using the roller tool (sold separately)was worth the price of admission. It definitely made install easier and was able to clear any air pockets as well as give excellent adhesion.
RESULTS: After the install there was a quick difference that could be heard. First thing you noticed is that when the doors are closed they sound more like a luxury car door closing. No more hollow sound, they sounded more solid. The sound in the cab is reduced and this is noticeable when no radio is on. Road noise has been reduced and it is a much nicer environment. As for the music...much nicer listening and clearer due to no competing noises from the road. Everyone who enters the vehicle likes it and knows there is a difference.
NOTES: I installed this on the inner door and the outer door. Some sites and installers will tell you this is unnecessary but if you are in the door why not. The thin sheet metal is all that is between you and the road. This pack covered two doors in the front. I bought two boxes to cover all four doors. It took one afternoon to install and it was complete. This is not a hard project at all. If you can get the door panels on and off you can install this product.
PRICE: I checked all over the internet and found that Amazon had the best price for this. From my experience this is likely to continue. Free shipping just solidified the deal. Check what you might need and compare the 4 sheet and 9 sheet boxes. Most of the time 2 4 sheet boxes will be cheaper per square inch and get the job done. Check prices and decide before you purchase.
OVERALL: I am very pleased with this product and would recommend it to anyone. It does what it is advertised to and is very easy to install. It will not make much difference if your vehicle has a lot of soundproofing already but if your car does not then this will do wonders.
My truck had some very small pieces of factory mat in the outer door metal already. They were just covered by the Dynamat. You may find the same thing during your install. They must think the truck needed some. I just took it up a notch.

I bought this to cover some areas that the original dynomatt buy didnt, and it performed much greater than i had ever expected it too.
It is OK if you have more money than sense.
It works well, I am surprised that someone else does not make it[cheaper]. It is a very low tech material. We used it in the doors of a friends car when speakers were replaced and spent over $100. I bought three cans of rubberized undercoat at Wally-World for about $5 per can and my doors were just as quiet. I guess it is just personal preference and economic priority, for me the extra $85 in the pocket was better. My friend, well he spends money like a drunken sailor...not to offend any drunken sailors out there.

I just finished using Dynamat Xtreme to do my entire 2006 Acura RSX Type S. It works great, road noise is reduced and the sound system is able to create better sound at lower volumes. I used two Dynamat Xtreme bulk kits and a door kit (90 square feet). My only compliant is the price and the door kit does not contain enough material to do two door right (outer skin and interior metal). When you read the instruction you'll see that door should be enough to two doors. I was only about the outer skin of the doors from this kit. I would suggest just using the bulk kits which are a better price per square foot. Don't be fooled by copymat's I've this product and others, hands down Dynamat is better.
Really does work!
I was for sure skeptical of this product doing what its box says it does (i.e. the acoustical dampening chart on box). But, after having installed it on all 4 of my doors and on the driver's side floor, I have to give it 2 thumbs up. It didn't convert my Mitsubishi into a Mercedes, but it did REALLY reduce the amount of outside noise coming in. I was yesterday sitting in my car in the soccer parking lot listening to music and could hear absolutely nothing from the outside. People walked right by talking, wind blowing, other cars, etc. and I heard nothing. I only noticed this because it was noticeable. Installation was absolutely no problem either. This stuff is very similar to tar paper, but its design keeps it completely unmessy. Good product.

Dynamat has stole my bass?
I installed Dynamat Xtreme to my two front doors today - it took about 6 1/2 hours. I did the outer and inner door and used a thin aluminium to cover the door holes and used Dynamat over it. When I finished, I drove the car and noticed the sound quality worse then before - it now has significant loss of bass.
What happened? and how can I fix it?
I completely sealed the whole inner door by the way. It almost sounds like the Dynamat has dampened my bass by making it quieter - what the hell? : (
I'm not a professional installer, so that's ok - I'm a DIY. I will re-wire the left one today, but when I did the balance thing, it didn't really make much of a difference..
I've never heard of Dynamat doing this before and I've used many forms for over 15 years.
There's only one thing that comes to mind, and it is a simple oversight. I'm assuming when you applied the Dynamat, you unhooked you speakers and took them out of the door so you could get in around the speaker opening. When you re-installed the speaker, you MAY have inadvertently wired it backwards, out of phase. This is a common mistake, I've done it a few times.
A quick way to find out, without taking you door apart again, is to balance the stereo all the way to the left, and then to the right. If your sound quality improves on either side, you know this is the problem. And which ever side sounds better, it's the opposite side that is wired wrong.
So just fix it. No worries.
By stating this, am I in no way doubting your skills as an installer. I've been in the biz for over 15 years and I am credited with doing some of the best installs in my area. But even I have made some mistakes doing some extremely simple. It's just human nature. It happens.
